Default Who's a good doc in Mid or Southeast Michigan??

I live in Livingston County (Howell) and am willing to go to Lansing, Detroit, Ann Arbor - but I haven't found a good doc here who knows anything about PCOS. My last doc in Howell handed me a packet of information and said "You probably already know all of this information but I don't have much else to give you". I need someone who is going to be proactive in helping me. Most docs are to the point with me where they say - 'you just have to lose weight. Nothing else is working.' Anyone know of a good doc?

thanks!
/M

If you would be willing to drive to Toledo, I could help you out. I go to the Fertility Center on NW Ohio. I love them!

When I lived in Michigan several years ago I went to MSU Women's Health, and the Dr I saw there was the first person to say I may have PCOS - but I was getting ready to move a few weeks later so we never did any tests or anything. If you want I can try to find her name and information.... and forward it along to you.

I know I'm coming late to this thread and not even sure if you're still looking for a Dr. But I know of two in lansing, both located in the Sparrow Pofessional Building. If you still are looking let me know and I'll pass their info onto you.

Sarah and hedyvrie ~
Yes! I would love the info. Please post it for us. I'm always looking for better doctors. Mine is very nice but not proactive with PCOS at all! Whatever info you can send our way is a great thing!

thanks!

I am so sorry, but since we are moving I have packed the info. I will post it in a couple weeks when we are moved and a little settled. Please send me email at hwalt1@gmail.com if I forget to do this for you. I would like to compare notes if you find a good doctor. I am sad to leave mine here in Dallas b/c he is really good.

Have you had any luck finding a doc in MI? I'm in Kalamazoo, and was just diagnosed by a GYN who implied that she had it too...but she told me that PCOS was the SAME syndrome as metabolic syndrome/syndrome X/IRS etc...it wasn't until I started researching that I discovered they may go hand in hand but are not necessarily the same thing...She also didn't even mention testing my blood sugar, or doing a cholesterol test etc. Just told me that she didn't think it was necessary to make me go off bc to check my hormone levels, because she was sure from my symptoms that I have it. Also didn't discuss meds other than bc. Just recommended a lo-carb diet. She did check the androgen levels but I never heard back...anyway, makes me wonder if I should look for a different doc. I'm willing to drive! Thanks!

I really love my RE. Dr. Dodds of Michigan Reproductive. You can check out their website if you google it. It's in Grand Rapids but I think they have a k-zoo office too (but I could be thinking of my ob).
I started there after a horrible experience with dx and a doctor. I loved him. He sat me in his office and answered all my questions. That was before TTC and I never felt uncomfortable even though it was an IVF clinic too. The whole staff is wonderful; the nurses are very kind and informed. I can't say enough good things about them. I'd drive a few hours to go there if we moved.

She is a gynecologist she is extremely knowledgable about pcos and very proactive ( she also responds well to information you bring in). She helped me have my daughter. Her name is Dr Kulkarnig she is in flint michigan.

She is also late 30's so she is not too far out of school and is up to date on things. Her residency was with a perinatalogist so she helped me with my high risk pregnancy.
