the diet for example. the only things ive noticed the metformin doesnt get along with are the things i myself probably shouldnt really be eating either.
The Met made me sicker than I ever care to admit.
Everynight, I didn't feel well, and I just wanted to lye down.
But, I was recently switched to Fortament ER (its an extended release). It smells like feet .... but it works SOOOOO WELLL!
I now am not sick anymore and feel wonderful knowing that I'm not making excuses to skip my meds anymore.
So if she's not tolerating the Met, try Fortament ER (or Glucophage XR ... both are extended release, easier on the tummy).

will keep that in mind for sure, thanks. im starting to think its only the first day or two when she takes them. as in... she runs out and doc makes her go in for an office visit to get a refill. after missing a day or few it gets to her but aside from that its not too much of an issue. its all okay though, whatever it takes..
All I know is that my DH was really tired of feeling helpless that there was nothing that he could do to make me feel better. I told him that making his famous grilled cheese sandwiches always makes me feel better
I'm so glad I listened to my pals here on the boards that there is better medicine out there, and you don't have to go through life thinking you've IBS when you really don't

I think there is a category missing from this poll. My wife is not signed up here but I am also a wife... so there should be a category for Significant Other of a cyster who is or is not currently signed up with SC. I chose Wife whose significant other is not signed up but that's misleading and makes me seem like i am a cyster... which I am not.

I have visited this site many times in the past 2 years since I was diagnosed with pcos, but now I registered because I am at my wits end with my husband. When we started dating I was thinner. I gained 70 pounds in 2 years. I have insulin resistance and I have tried every diet and pill under the sun. My husband keeps telling me that he can not understand how having pcos and insulin resitance could keep someone from losing weight. He says if you eat right and exercise you have to lose weight.he says that I must be cheating on my diet It has become very frustraing to diet and exercise and still see the scale go up. I am extremly depressed and on the verge of divorce. My husband has flat out told me he doesn't like the way I look and wants me to lose weight. I just need to know if anyone has any suggestions or successful weight loss tips, or any insight on how to explain pcos and insulin resistance to my husband, so he can understand that it is not easy to lose weight with this.
hello everyone ive posted a couple threads on here and responded to a few my name is Richard and my gf of a year and a month now was diagnosed last november 14th 2008 and we have been dealing with it everyday and everyday is just a new step and a new challenge but we get through things together and im extremely proud of her for the accomplishments and advancments that she has made and that we have made together.. ive tried my best (and am still trying!) to educated myself further on PCOS ive bought books and read them cover to cover dozens of times ive read this site up and down and many others alike.. for all you men out there def DEF go buy a book read it then give it to your loved one she will completely appreciate the steps towards learning that your making trust me and then when she reads it you will have so much more to discuss and talk about .. me and my gf are EXTREMELY close and EXTREMELY verbal with eachother im madly in love with her and we tell eachother just about everthing lol .. i wouldnt have it any other way though.. but for all you men out there and the creator of this forum id just like to say thank you and keep up the good job and that its not easy for us but we still do try!.. if anyone has any more advice on anything id surely like to take it but i just wanted to stop by and say hello.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES!.. and for those of us men that take the time and love and consideration for our woman to educate ourselves and be there for them everyday.. ooo i love my behbeh

I couldn't imagine not looking into or researching what my wife is going through. We are best friends and tell eachother everything and what happens to one of us happens to the other. We are on this journey together.
My sister inlaw gained like 100lbs in a year before being diagnossed and struggles to lose any weight her then boyfriend and now husband has been very supportive. My wife is up about 50lbs since our marriage 3 years ago and she works out hard 5 times weekly. she had a personal trainer who said she worked out harder than anyone in the gym guys and girls include as well as peopl in the gym asking how she works out so hard and in six months gained 2 pounds she eats healthy 1 greek yogart, 2 servings of fruit, a granola bar, 1 D&D's coffe (her treat but she cut down on the cream and sugar) !/2 a wrap (wheat tortilla, fat free mayo some times 1 slice cheese, and 2 peices turky or ham(now cut that in half)) and a reasonable balanced dinner that I cook and she always leaves some on her plate(high protien low carb/lowfat). guess what she still gained weight but at a lot slower pace she has just had her first wieght loss in while about 8lbs in the last year. It is a battle that we fight together any negativity and stress adds to your cortazone that can also cause weight gain and you ladies have enough stress without you husband piling on. I hope he comes around does research into PCOS so he can help instead on hinder go to you doctors with you and realize he married a whole wonderful person and not just a picture. You need his support or else you don't need him. good luck and keep fighting.
Hi, I'm Kristen, new to this thread, and a single gal living with PCOS for over a decade now. I am 32, and not allowed myself to date b/c I'm too embarrassed by the hair issue and can't imagine telling a boyfriend, and any guy accepting that and being ok with it. So it's so good to see all of you guys here to learn about this, and ways to support your girlfriends/fiances/wives. It gives me hope!
I look into everything on my own. My husband has never even opened a book or looked up anything. I doubt he'd be able to tell a doctor what I even have.
I've given up.
I'm really jealous of you ladies whose husband's and SO's care so much.
