Whole Wheat Cheddar Cheese Pie Crust This comes from a book called Recipes for a Small Planet that was published in 1973, focusing on meatless protein. I love this crust with apple pies and with quiches.
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/4 to 1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp dry mustard (optional)
Stir together dry ingredients; add cheddar cheese and enough water to allow a dough to form.
Gather the dough, roll it out, and place in an oiled 9" pie plate. It is ready to fill and bake.
Makes 1 9" pie crust. 1 crust=approx. 29 grams usable protein
Don't know a carb count on it, though, sorry, but the whole wheat flour and no sugar should be less than traditional pie crusts.
Zeo,
off to make an apple pie for her honey
