Default WHY is AF here??

Hi all. First of all, I take Ortho-cept BCP. my last period was Dec 14-19 (altered it a bit with the last week of pills so I could not have AF on the 20th for surgery) and I have been taking the pills at the same time every day, and have been perfect with my met. So this morning I wake up with AF.. not just spotting, but heavy. I was sooo angry. Called my doctor around noon, left a message with the receptionist but it is now 10 til 2 and she said they are only there til 12:30 today being new years eve.
Sooo I am expecting to not hear from her til the 2nd, but I have another appointment that day (stitches coming out) so I don't know if I will be around.
I am on the 2nd week of this pack and I am RAVING MAD that this has happened. I dont see any reason.. The only time I have had any breakthrough bleeding on this pill was almost a year ago and it was beccause of very high stress (I guessed).
So, I wanted to ask my doctor if I should stop taking the pill, so I can just have my period if it wants to be here so badly, so I dont have it this week while on the pill, have it stop, and less than a week later have it again cause it's really time for it to come!!
aggg..
ANyone have ideas? WHat would you do?? I took my pill early this morning when I got up, hoping to ward it off.. but probably will have no luck....

Beth, when you say you altered the previous AF, what do you mean? Took fewer pills?

Could it be connected to the surgury? Maybe the stress on your body threw off your hormones? I'd be inclined to just keep taking the pills - stopping and restarting may mess things up more next cycle, but see what your Dr says.

Oana- Yeah. I stopped taking the pills 2 days earlier, so my period would end in time to not have it on my surgery.
My doctor hasn't called back as of yet.. I think I will try her again today. I haven't stopped taking the pills, I'm just dealing with it. Maybe it did have something to do with the surgery.. I was on antibiotics, but ended them a week ago. Odd for AF to turn up now..

Well, I've been told that if your using the BCP as actual contraceptives, antibiotics can sometimes mess that up, so its recommended to use some sort of backup method during that time... I'm not sure why it does that, but I imagine if it could mess that up it could mess with the rest of your cycle too.
