Default Why am I on this?

I was diagnosed in November and was immediately started on metformin. My insulin levels are fine and my periods are regular. She said my testosterone levels were high and they needed to be lower for me to ovulate. Well, I am no longer TTC so why am I on this drug? Do testosterone levels need to be normal to BE normal?

Yes, they do.

And you're on it because it's the only treatment for PCOS. It evens out your hormones (doesn't just control your blood sugar), and you need that to be normal. Just because you're not trying to conceive doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of yourself. You'd get antibiotics for an infection, and you'd take meds if you had chronic depression. Why not for this?

It can reduce your eventual likelihood of diabetes type 2, heart disease, alzeimers, and also if you are overweight or have the apply type big upper stomach type thing which is caused by IR - met can help (I am not sure if you are or not).
Lessening IR which met does also decreases likelihood of hair loss if you are geneticaly prone, hirsutism.. but again not sure if these are problems for you.
