I have seen the commercials for this "Smooth Away" product. It's basically this little pad you rub on your legs/face whatever to "smooth away" hair. It's is also supposed to exfoliate your skin. Well I've seen it and always wanted to try it, so today at Walgreens (my local drug store) I bought some...
and wow. Why didn't I know about this before?? It takes longer than shaving, but omg, I've never had a product work so well, and it's really painless!! My legs are like a baby's bottom, and I have really thick dark hairs. I'm so shocked. Shaving usually gives me huge bumpy pores which bleed.... and this product exfoliates my skin and makes it look really great. I'm so never buying anything else again!!!

Fine if your hair growth is slow and your skin is tough enough to stand it.
For those of us who shave moustache and beard growth every day and have sensitive skin, there's no way we could take what amounts to sandpaper to our face every morning.
I totally have to shave every single day. I even get 5 o'clock shadow. :o It's very bothersome. Yeah the thing doesn't work so well on my face mainly because I can't get good leverage to use it properly on such a small area. But for my legs, wow. It's really incredible. I usually get such crap looking legs from shaving, and bleed from a dozen places because of my huge ugly pores. But with this thing, it's like magic. :o

You know I saw this on TV and wondered about it myself. I also get bumps when I shave my legs and have to use dipilatory cream for my facial hair. I didn't think this would work, but was willing to try. A lot of the stuff on TV is pretty cool and usually works pretty well.
Does it hurt? Is it like sandpaper or a type of rubber substance that just pulls the hair out? (ouch! remember those Epilady things???)

It doesn't hurt. It's more like sandpaper. Their suggestion is you press with some mild firmness and rub in a circle three times one way, and three times the other way (a lot of work if you ask me, lol, I just did it one way all over).
I use lotion afterwards so my legs don't have that "dry" look and all is good.

I agree that this product works well on legs, but faces is a different story!! For those of you looking for good hair removal, I am doing laser hair removal and it is super fantastic!!! I know many people are scared at how expensive it can be, but for about $800 all my facial hair is gone and I used to have thick dark hair that no amount of shaving and make-up could cover in a photograph. I think this was the best $800 I ever spent!! Check out sona med spa, that who I went through and they are just wonderful!!
Yes I agree with the laser thing. I was told it would take me between 5-8 treatments to get it all on my upper lip/chin area, but I only had the money to do 3. It still made a big dent in the problem, and I would do it again in a heartbeat to get the rest... it's just not a priority these days.

Yea, I know the laser thing is the best way, but personally there is no way on Gods green earth that I can afford $800 !!!!!!!!! Good night that's a lot of money.... wish I could, I"d get it in a heartbeat.
Until I am rich like that I'll have to do with the poor mans remedies of removing hair. I tried the new Nair stuff for my legs, it worked without giving me the acid burn feeling (I have really sensitive skin as well) plus I didn't have to shave for about 3 weeks ! NICE!
As far as my face, its so sensitive all I can use is Nair face dipilitory cream. I cannot keep it on as long as I need for my course hair because my skin is too touchy, but it does a good enough job if I pat my face with hot water first.
No waxing, that is such a waste of money. It only lasted a few days !!!!!! I think I'll try the sandpaper thing to see what's up !

Well it's not $800 all at once. My treatments were $129.95 every 6 weeks. I had to wait for the old follicles to die and new ones to grow for another treatment. I think now they are $149.95 at the place I used to go.

Yeah when I said $800, I meant total for complete hair removal. It can be made in much smaller payments and done when you can afford it. Although you may say you are using the "poor" methods of hair removal, in reality all the money you spend using products that don't work very well and cause redness and other unsightly issues could be use to pay for a treatment of laser hair. We all can cut corners to save a few bucks and if you can't then maybe you should look at your finances to see whats actually important. Good Luck
