Default Why do I have to feel so bad to feel good: meds?

Hi, I just started taking Abilify and it has done wonders for my depression and other negative symptoms. Yet I also feel worse because it is causing me insomnia and some random restlessness of my body and limbs. But I am mostly worried about the fact it can effect blood sugar.

The problem is, I feel fat. FAT FAT FAT. I am nearing 300 at 6' tall and it is all in my belly. I look like I am pregnant without the boobs. I was doing fine till I started the drug and then my clothes got a little tighter and I knew I was gaining again.

I take Met at the max dose and eat very little food, just two-three snacks and one full meal a day. I try to keep telling myself that it took ten years to gain and it will probably take ten years to loose it all.

Anyone have better results on similar
second generation anti-psychotics? I need more options and it seems like they all cause problems.

I take seroquel in part because of severe bipolar linked insomnia, and it's very good for that. It can cause weight gain (and high cholesterol, blood sugar issues, etc.) like all the current atypicals, but it hasn't for me, so perhaps trying another one might give you better results.

I think what is getting me now is the insomnia and the wiggliness. I just can't sleep through the night anymore. It is so irritating to wake up with my legs kicking. And every stray thought waking me up is not helping. Then I find myself falling asleep during the day.

I'll ask my doc about Wellbutrn and check into it.
