That is the wierdest thing, I am totally floored by it. Not only that but i specifically remember reading in Cosmo that this is not a real thing, that people cannot secrete smells from food, but let me tell you I really smell just like onions,, its pretty wierd!

This happens to me to--with onions, garlic and--how weird is this--that English Toffee flavored cappuccino from the gas station! (I call it "gas station cappuccino" even though we sell it in our soda fountain at work, and I work at a museum, not a gas station!).
Yeah, I don't know what it is about me...it's like it somehow hangs in my system and almost radiates from my pores and sweat glands! And my pee--the pee smells like it too, which leads to the "you know where" smell! I hate onions the most, because even like days later, I can still taste the aftertaste in the back of my throat--like it's somehow hanging around in my digestive system.
The English Toffee cappuccino is the worst, because all of me--my skin, my hair, etc--smells like this cappuccino, which happens to smell like pancakes. People have said to me, "Have you been eating pancakes today?" LOL

I get that with onions and garlic. And you can tell the difference between the two (and so can DH!!!).
ANyway, I find it hard to believe what Cosmo said. Here are some links I found on the internet that state it is entirely true that you can eat onions or garlic and smell like that down there...
Or how about strong fish, or even salmon. There are already enough jokes about us womenfolk having a "fish funk down there" and then when I eat fish (which I love) iit has to go and affect me "that way"...ewwww! Maybe this is TMI! LOL!
Well, it seems a lot of us have the problem, but I don't know what to do about it. I know that studies have shown that if you rub garlic on your FEET, it travels thru your bloodstream and you still end up with garlic BREATH. So, I guess it only makes sense that it would be in *other* places too!

well vtmommy not to contradict but...cosmo is also the one i saw that said to stay away from onions & certain foods b4 a date because you can begin to secrete that scent. i dont know...
but i will say this...this guy i know ate a ton of garlic (why? i dont know...lol) and stunk so bad for DAYS until it got out of his system, not quite sure xactly HOW long it took tho. the only foods really potent enough, it seems, to be able to cause it is onions, garlic, even some spicy foods. so cosmo contradicts itself w/ the input where it says you CANT secrete foods from ur body so i dont know but w/ the stench from the guy w/ the garlic id have to say its true lol. just like when you eat too much of a certain food it can make your urine smell too. i think cosmo mighta gotten some faulty info the more i think about it bcuz u ever eat 2 much asaparagus & it makes the urine stink.
i also did my own "pineapple juice" experiment (which i learned from Cosmo as well) but u have to drink a ton of it. and eat a bunch of em too. anyway i started smelling something funny. not bad. kinda good but intermingled w/ a sorta body-like stench. not a bad body odor but just like when u break a light light sweat i guess. the GOOD body odor that i strangely find sexy. and it was kinda sweet. anyway i finally figured out it was the pineapple bcuz i forgot that i was conducting the xperiment and that i had drank so much of it the day b4 but id never smelled that smell before.
anyway try drinking more water (which can make ur urine smell bad if u dont and it might help w/ the onion smell too, i dont know but its worth a try) & maybe some detoxifying veggies, or antioxidant tea.
so i have to say...cosmo must b going crazy bcuz thats the reason im terrified to eat garlic, onions, & spicy foods and why i try to eat & drink pineapples & juice to smell good, and then they contradict the info theyve been preaching about forever! DAMN THEM!!!!!

The article was in about maybe 6 months ago, It was one of those health questions, and it was from a man though, but it stated that this was indeed a myth. MAYBE I am not sure but it could have only applied to men. But cosmo is the only mag I get so i know it was that one.
Anyway it grosses me out sometimes, I truly believe that they need to put a warning on the side.

I have this problem with onions too. I don't have to eat it, just chopping one up makes me reek! Of course, I can eat an onion without touching it with my hands at all and get the same result. However, I can eat or handle tons of garlic and the only thing that will stink is my breath. It's weird how that works.
My ex husband is East Indian and he smells of spices. Not being racist or politically incorrect. Just a fact. And when he takes my son to his house, even though he doesn't feed him any of the spices, he comes back smelling like he has been living in India.
I also secrete the smells of my meds Eeeeek!

I have found that if I eat a lot of garlic, my body secretes a garlic odor. I can run my fingers through my hair and they come back smelling slightly of garlic.
Onions too.
If I eat well cooked (to sweetness) onions and garlic, not really any smell. I think cooking breaks down the odor causing compounds.
As far as the TMI comment about eating a lot of fish giving you a bit of a fishy aroma in the girly bits? Yeah. Which is why I don't eat fish too often.
The pineapple myth? Works for me. I love fresh pineapple and pineapple juice. And if I have a glass of juice or some fresh pineapple every day for a few days, I have a kind of sweet smell about me and yeah, my urine smells faintly like pineapples. TMI for sure, but it's true for me.

This happens to me too...With coffee only! Haha...I'm not sure about other foods. However, when I eat something REALLY REALLY sweet, like honey, my DH says I smell like sugar um, down there and I noticed from my arm pits too....lol...I thought I was the only one with food-smelling problems!
