Default Why does the dentist ask if you are on the pill?

When I go to the dentist they ask if I am on the pill. Does anyone know why? I'm curious.

They asked me if I was taking any drugs because of the effects on hormones. Changes in hormones can cause change in your gums. This is what the technician told me.
