Question Why doesn't everyone take XR?

I am just confused because so many people take regular Met and have horrible side effects. I have been on 1000mg of XR from the get go and I haven't had any side effects. It is generic, so I only pay $10 a month. Are their certain reasons that Dr.s rx regular met?

Just curious...

I take regular Met. because that's what the doc prescribed for me. DH's dad takes XR and has no side effects. I have little appetite, but the other symptoms have gone away for me. Not sure if many docs know the XR is available in the generic now.

I am on the generic ER (1000mg) and I do get side effects, I guess everyone is just different.

I suspect many doctors don't know about the XR.

XR wasn't available in Canada the first 4 years I was on the drug..was just introduced here last week.

Once I started eating right, my side effects totally stopped, so there is no reason for me to switch now that it's here. Regular met is keeping my hormones controlled, so I'm happy with the regular.

EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT! It's so true. Before i started taking met I was so scared. I'm up t 1500 and no side effects except for I'm more regular!!

Whoop it up...no side effects! I'm on the XR type so I'm guessing that helps as well! I wouldn't be worried about not having side effects!

I know something is starting to work because I'm not having my night sweats anymore and I've taken off a little weight! If you have more questions about met Christyz is an expert!

I agree, everyone is different. My friend took regular met and recommended I talk to my doc about it. She had no side effects after the first day. 2000mg and one day with slight stomach upset. No biggy. I talk to my RE and go on it. I thought I was going to die. So after 3 months or so I change to XR. It didn't help. After about a year I switched to Avandia with no side effects at all. We all just have to find out what works for us.
