Lightbulb Why don't they just take it out?

I've been reading and researching a little since I was diagnosed earlier today.

All of these websites suggest all these Tx for PCOS, but none mentions a full oopherectomy/hystorectomy?

    Why not?

    No ovaries=No PCOS.

Seems so simple, why don't they?

I certainly don't want to get diabetes, or Congestive heart failure or all that other crap that's possible. high cholesterol and so forth (which I already have)

I don't think it just the ovaries causing problems. A lot of women with PCOS don't have the cyst.

Actually, though it seems correct, taking the ovaries out wouldn't do any good.

The ovaries aren't the problem. The problem is most likely the pituitary gland. It isn't sending the proper signals to the Ovaries to make the ovaries produce the right hormones in the right amount.

However, if you did take the ovaries out, you'd probably be faced with even bigger problems like -- Without ovaries, you will have to take estrogen/progesterone supplements for the rest of your life to keep from having hot flashes all the time, and other s/e of menopause.

Right now, you have the potential (whether you are on BCP or another type of therapy like met or gluc) to help correct whatever errors your pituitary gland is making, and hopefully reduce the symptoms of PCOS greatly.

I really do wish it were that simple, though.

So many things in your body go wrong before the ovaries are even affected. A hysterectomy will not cure PCOS.

I know because I had a full hysterectomy done almost 2 years ago now.
I also am not on BCP/HRT because I do not have any menapausal symptoms except vaginal dryness.(big issue for my sex life)
The HRT makes life worse for me.

You have other organs that produce estrogen,Pancrious being one of them. So if you are IR or diabetic, your body is already pumping out estrogen in large amounts.

This is a ladder effect disease. As you take a step, you find yourself needing to take another step. Then it keeps going. We rarely actually find the way to the top. If left untreated, each one of us will have more severe health issues as we age.

I would also like to mention endometreosis and andeomyosis, both effect the uteris. They can cause severe pain before, during and after your period. If they effect the ovaries, you can have more severe symptoms of PCOS.
    Endometriosis (Infertility Cause)
    Andnomyosis (Infertility/Miscarry Cause)
Fibroid tummores(One reason for Non stop AF)
    Tubal ligation syndrome(Sister of PCOS)
