Default Why why why

Why does adoption cost soooooooooooo much.... These woman can't take care/and or dont want their babies. Why is it that people who would make great parents have to pay an arm and a leg for a baby. An adoption place called me, We are looking for a new born with Downs. They had a bay due on Dec 11th 2009. The cost is 7000 dollars due now.... where do i get this money???? Why can I just have a baby... The only thing I ask for when I pray is for a baby... just one baby....

Oh on CPS (FOSTER CARE) is horrible in Texas

im sorry, i don't understand that either. it looks like it would be more affordable so that these kids don't end up in faster care later b/c they can't be taken care of.

I SSSSSSOOOOOOOO know what you mean...we did domestic infant adoption and our adoption was a little under $30K...we aren't by any means rich...more closer to poor now, lol...but when we started researching 3 years ago on it, it was super expensive (like it isn't now...lol) so we thought about going through the state as well (we are in Texas as well), we went through the info meeting and the lady looked around and say that if you wanted to adopt an infant that this was not the place for you that you will more than likely will not be placed with an infant and even if you did there was no TPR and it was unlikely that you would be able to adopt the child...so....that left us with a hopeless feeling...anyhow, we through several different situations it was steps to getting to adopt our DS...homestudy taken out of savings...took a loan out...took out of 401k...did a garage sale (and raised $1000)...little bit here and there...from the time that we started til' the time that ds was born it was 8 mos...very fast in the adoption world...

Can I ask what agency you are going with? Which one is the one for $7000k? Is it here in Texas? I am thinking it's not in Texas but in California (b/c of the matching fee I am assuming that that's what it is)...but anyhow...let me know...I can help with agencies...if you are doing here in Texas...

Are you saying they are trying to charge you more because the baby had Down's???? Why??? I would think that a baby with Down's would be harder to place! I think that it is wonderful that you would adopt a special needs child!!!! DH and I had a very hard time getting pregnant and I would love to adopt our second child...but we simply can't afford it!!! I don't understand either why it is so expensive...I think if these children have no homes and no one to take care of them and love them....they should just give them to people who will!!!! It is ashamed that there are parents out there willing to give the little children a great home and they can't because they are not rich!!! It is not only sad for us but it is more sad for the children that there lives are controlled by who has money!!!

Not all of TX CPS is horrible. Where we are (near Dallas) we found a wonderful agency and had great experiences with both CPS offices we worked with. There are Foster, Foster/Adopt and Adopt only options - truthfully the Adopt only parents are competing against other Adopt only parents for each available child. The Foster and Foster/Adopt parents are asked first if they will adopt the children if that becomes a possibility. Foster/Adopt parents are asked how much risk they are willing to take - ones nearly TPR'd, likely to TPR, or emergency placements (completely unknown).

We did foster/adopt in order to have younger children come into our home and accepted the riskiest placements (emergency placements). We received 2 children in separate placements at 10 and 24 months (the first came 3 days after we received our license) - we were able to adopt both about a year later. We also did respite (babysitting) for another foster family of an infant right from the hospital. We were extremely fortunate that we never had one of our foster children leave.

You just have to remember that with CPS, it's Foster first and adopt if possible. It's all about the children (for the Foster Parents at least) - you give your heart completely and do what's right for the kids. CPS has to work with the birth-family and do all of the legally necessary stuff (our workers were very concened for the kids' well being and best interests). Not everyone can foster, because many of the children are returned to birth-family and the foster family has to 'let go'.

If you want to help a child and can work through the grief if they leave, it really is a rewarding experience. If you feel drawn to Foster Care, definitly look into it further. Without it, our family would not be complete.
