Default Wife Swap!

Thought I'd start a new thread cos folks won't know that we were talking about it elsewhere!

This has to be the weirdest, funniest and freakiest reality TV show! I have never been so afraid to watch and yet unable to stop watching something in my life!

Sonia definitely came out best - she seemed to be the only grown-up among them.

I found it interesting that Dee thought her fella would object to having a black woman around, and I think in the end she was upset that he had a better time than her. He seemed to have learned something from the experience and Dee didn't seem to like the change. That would explain why she was so rude to Sonia when they met anyway. I suppose that we only get to see cleverly edited highlights, but Dee was a bit strong with Sonia.

Mary really was a rotten kid. She behaved so childishly that I can't believe that she was 18 - throwing tantrums and hyperventilating just cos all her toys had been put away...

The CRAP that Dee and her family ate! I can't believe they only ate one cooked meal a week! And DID you see their plates?!!! I think she had about 10 potatoes amongst the heap of grub. I know I like my food, but bloody hell!!! As for her trying to feed a Lance a TV dinner, well that had me in stitches! I said to DH and my sis: "you don't wanna f*ck with a black man's food!" (or woman's for that matter, as DH has discovered to his cost!)

I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments. As a black woman married to a Scot I found this programme especially interesting. If there are any black UK cysters or cysters in mixed marriages, I would be very interested to hear what you thought. Looking forward to next week's show - compulsive voyeurism, I think!!!

What a vile woman! I felt sorry for her husband and the nice daughter - she seemed to blossom when Sonia showed her a bit of attention and affection, wee soul.

I also thought that Lance was a complete plonker! he was arrogant and racist too - he was just more articulate and made his views sound more researched, but he was just as against white people as Dee was against black people - she was really ignorant and seemingly uneducated whereas he seemed to be well read and able to come across as though he knew what he was talking about (take the 'hash incident' for example) however he really knew sod all - it was just his confidence that won the arguments.

Sonia seemed really nice and her kids were adorable, I am just wondering why she has chosen to be with a man like Lance - she could do better.

Dee's husband should be given a medal for services beyond the call of duty!

......and the daughter Mary - give me 10 minutes alone with her and her attitute problem and I'll sort her out!

having said that, it's the parents that made her that way - both of them.

DH and I thought it was hilarious! No way would we behave like that on camera. I agree with both of you Mary was a spolt brat! But you cant blame the child as that is the way she was reared by Dee. However the other daughter did come to life and light under Sonia's care!

I did not like Lance at all! The only time I would have agreed with Dee is that smoking weed or whatever it was should not be permitted. It doesnt give good example. I also got the impression that Sonia's own daughter does not like Lance!

Sonia's home was really well kept but as for Dee's place - total kip and all those toys! A bit childish dont you think.

Cant wait for next week's instalment.

Damn, I was going to watch it, but my 5 yr old would NOT go to sleep, so I ended up cuddling her in bed and I MISSED IT.

That show was unbelievable! My dh and I sat here watching it, with our jaws dropping lower and lower and our eyes popping bigger and bigger. It's a completely new 'reality' tv level... and the producers certainly did their research when pairing these two families up.

I agree--Sonia was just brilliant, and it was interesting to see Dave (Dee's husband) stand up for himself at the end. The dynamics in that family were ureal. Lance was just a piece of work... dh and I were rolling when he started smoking while arguing with Dee and you could just see it taking effect by the way he didn't argue back as intensely. We don't smoke, but it was kind of funny to see him mellow out while Dee went on going ballistic. And it was interesting to see Kimberly speaking out against Lance... is Kimberly from a first marriage?

We're definitely going to watch next week...

jen

PS, Lis--we have it on tape b/c my dh accidentally recorded it after Property Ladder (another addictive one)... let me know if you want it!

Default Anyone seen Now! or Heat! Magazines?!

Hooray!!!

Sonia is no longer with that cretinous oaf Lance! And what is interesting is that he apparently left her to go back to his former partner (and I think, mother of his children). Apparently, loads of women were going up to Sonia in the street saying "ditch that man!"

She didn't like what she saw of him on the show either - she thought he was horrible to Dee and that he had no business airing his personal views on cannabis on national TV.

Also, I don't know if any of you saw the show with (I think) Michelle? and Barry (the professional loafer... erm...gambler). They have split up too, and that pleased me no end, because he was a total lazy pig. I guess that reality TV can do some good sometimes, because these women have come to realise what they are missing when they see how others live.
