Default wiggleynose,you should get

SOrry I didn't mean to start a new post, just realized I did and added to my post.

I think they should give you med. for your thyroid, that is about what my TSH is and I'm being given synthroid 75mcgs once per day.

I'm not for sure if its the synthroid or what, but I've finally started AF on my own w/o provera or a BCP . Its been since Jan. and Provera since AF.

I've just started Actos instead of Gluc. and so far no horrible side effects.

Good luck getting something for your thyroid. I hope you're going to a ENdocrinologist, because regular doctors are very hard to get thyroid medicine from if a TSH is under 5.

I let my ENDO. know that I new the new set standards from the american endocriology association. and I did not care what he thought and I surprised myself by not acting like a wimpy patient like I usual do and keep w/my plans and walked out with a perscription.

How did your dr. react to you telling him info?

I'm going to an RE right now. He's the only dr. I've been to (over 20 the past 18months) that knows anything about PCOS. My insurance is limited on the specialists.

He's a young guy (probably not more than early 30's) and you know how some dr.'s can be. I don't want him thinking that I don't trust him and stuff but I KNOW I have hypothyroid issues. My mom's thyroid compltely stopped working when she was 30 after several tests stating it was normal.

She started hemmoraging and then and only then would they consider her to have thyroid problems. Her dr. now is great but he's not under my insurance.

Default ? about your mom's thyroid failing

Hey , I noticed you said your mom's thyroid failed when she was 30 and she started hemorraghing ?Do you mean from the uterus or where. Kind of freaks me out because I'm having really heavy bleeding for over a week now and I haven't had AF in 6 months and now this.
I Endo. sometimes can seem like an arrogant ass, but when I showed him the page that I wrote out the AAEE standards on he asked me who wrote it and I said I did and he said you are very right.

Yeah, they told her her uterus was hemmoraging and they did a D&C on her and that didn't help at all so she saw a few different dr's that had her on iron pills that didn't work and various things.

Then she came down here to Vegas (was in No. NV at the time) and saw a specialist here and he told her it was her thyroid and gave her syntroid. She stopped bleeding within 3 days. He then told her her thyroid shut down.

Then about a year ago that dr. retired and she had to find a new dr. she went a month without syntroid because all of the dr.s would tell her she was "normal" and she started hemmoraging again. The dr. she has now actually called her old retired dr. and made the decision to treat her.

So messed up for her.

Maybe since you haven't had AF in 6months it might last a little longer than normal? I didn't have AF for 9 months and I bled for 12 days on provera induced AF (that was last month) and this month AF has been here for 8 days already although much lighter than last month. My mom bled for over a month she said it was like her normal semi-heavy AF but it didn't go away.

I would think if you bleed more than 10-14 days you should see your dr.
