I would say besides saving money you can start researching what type of adoption you are looking into. You could choose private, state or international to name a few ways. If you do international you'd need to narrow down to country so that in itself is a lot to look at. A lot of regulations can change in 5 years but you'd at least get an idea of each process.
It's great you have time on your side so you can figure which way will be the best to start your family. It's so much to take in all at once so I'm happy for you that you can think it all out--you're going to love your decision. Adoption is such a special blessing!
Best of luck!

I echo the above. But why are you waiting 5 years? Is it only money related? If you are considering domestic adoption from the foster care system, that is often an adoption option that is free or very low in cost.
Above, there is a sticky message with a ton of resources you should read (Adoption Resources). Also, visit the library and read all the books about adoption.
Congrats on your decision! Everything that Lisa suggested is exactly what I would suggest! Once you decide on where you want to adopt you could always start researching agencies and their requirements (each agency has different requirements on what's needed to adopt through them).
Good Luck!

Well I'm so happy for you. Like above, if I were you I would buy books on adoption that way your not so in for a surprise when you actually get to that point. No adoption process is the same. And there are so many ways to adopt. I agree, do research and find out what you and your spouse want to do. Read up on the laws for each. Have fun with it. You can do fundraisers to save up money, get your ducks all in a row and think what you want to do before then. I wish you all the best, if you have thought about it, do you know what route of adoption your going to take? Like foster to adopt, private adoption, international, domestic, anything? We're here for ya.
