Question Will Any Herb Trigger O ?

Hi ladies, I am in need of your expertiese with herbs please. I was diagnosed in 2001 with PCOS and have been taking a herb called peony at the recommendation of our herbalist/chemist. He said it would fix PCOS. The first month I took it with vitex in a liquid form which tastes awful. I had my first period in 2 years and had a 3 week cleanout-sorry. I stopped vitex after that and continued peony and it seems to have regulated my cycles. My last 2 cycles were 49 days apart and I just got my period today so these cycles are 30 days apart which is what I used to have. Ok, so I'm getting more regular periods but we've been ttc for over a year and nothing. It seems I may be haveing a period w/o ovulating. Our herbalist/chemist is on holiday for 3 weeks so I was wondering if any of you know what to take now?? If we were going medically, we'd take soemthing to restart periods and then clomid to induce o. Do any herbs do that? TIA

Beth

You could continue to take vitex. In some women it helps trigger ovulation. That is what it did in my case anyway. My son just turned 4 months! Good luck!! The trick with vitex though is that you have to stay on it even if it doesn't seem to work at first.

I have read some very inspiring stories about vitex and soy on this site (and some others). If you do vitex you need to start taking it on cd 1 and continue to your confirmed o. With soy I have read to take it as you would clomid cd 5-9. Now of course you need to do your own research with both of these. Some people say soy is worse for you than it is better, but I have found out that if you take it as your are supposed to it is just as safe as vitex. But do your own research!
