Unhappy Will the bleeding ever stop???

...two weeks ago, I had a Dr. appt... my Dr. was concerned because I told her that I'd been bleeding ~ very lightly, but bleeding nonetheless ~ since my last appt... (about 3 months before...)

...she started me on BCPs...

...the first week, I was bleeding much harder, and started having very bad nausea as well, but my Dr. was reticent about taking me off the BCPs ~ Ortho-Tricycline ~ and instead, she recommended that I change the time of day I was taking the pills...

...then the second week, the bleeding got so bad that I've been having to change my pad once an hour... (...but... at least the nausea has stopped... :| )

...now, my Dr. wants me to take a blood test... (she's worried about anemia...) ...but... doesn't that test just check the red-blood cell count??? will it help her know why I'm bleeding all the time???

(...I know this sounds silly, but... I'm starting to feel like I don't have any blood left!!!)

...this is taking everything out of me... mentally and emotionally as well as physically...

...any support from my cysters is appreciated...

I totally understand what you are going through. I would bleed for months and all the doctors ever wanted to do was put me on birth control. I had a bleeding spell for 7 months, and I was sure I wasn't going to have any blood left. I realized I wasn't getting anywhere with the birth control, so I started treating myself with herbs. I am actually doing a lot better. I'm not completely regular, but I don't bleed anywhere near as long or as heavy. I wish that doctors sometimes would spend a little more time listening before passing out meds. I hope you get some much needed results and relief from someone or in some form. Good luck.

OMG, you remind me so much of me. I went thru so many BCP's before my I found out I had PCOS. It was horrible, the doctors wouldn't listen to me, I was bleeding and had side effects from the BCP's. The 2 times the bleeding wouldn't stop I had to have a D&C. I was not only drained from all the bleeding but emotionally I was wreck. I couldn't go to work, (and they didn't undertsand) so I was fired. I was crying or pissed off 99% of the time. Every time I went to a new Dr. , they wanted to put me on a new BCP, I finally started saying NO, if I'm going to bleed while i'm on a BCP why should I take it, for the side effects? So I stopped taking everything, the bleeding continued and I had another D&C. The bleeding stops for 3 months then starts up for another 3 months, and this has been my life since last month. I finally found an Endo. who listened to me. He did blood work and told me what my hormone levels were (my previous 6 Dr's never did those tests, idiots). I was bleeding very heavily and I told him I didn't want another D&C, and he offered me a BCP, I almost freaked out on him. But he started explaining to me that each type of BCP has different homomes and levels of hormone. That with my results he knew I needed more of I can't even remember the name, so I took it, I trusted him and guess what my bleeding stopped within 4 days. These Dr's need to know what is going on with your body befor they start handing out all these meds. My advice to you is find that Dr. who is willing to do all the research before handing you a BCP or any other med. I know it's no the quickest answer but atleast you know there is an option out there for you, you just need that right Dr. My heart goes with you, I sometimes think I should of purchased stock with Playtex, I'd be rich now - LOL

Default Anemia and bleeding

I went through a 9month time frame where I did not stop bleeding for more than a couple of days the entire time.

Eventually I became so anemic I had to have an Iron Transfusion. My endo explained to me that the more you bleed, the more anemic you become, AND the more anemic you become, the more you bleed. Its a very viscious cycle. Maybe if you are anemic and she gives you some Iron Supplements, that will help.

Good luck,
Dale Ann

my mom bled for several months straight. it stopped once they put her on birth control but it wasn't ortho tri cyclen. Ask your doctor if she would consider switching you to a different pill.
