Question Will Dong Quai help?

Has anyone used Dong Quai to help regulate their cycles/bring on AF? Did you use it alone or in combination with something else? I would like to know how it has (or hasn't) worked for you. Please share any side effects you may have had also. Thanks!

Dong Quai bothers my stomach a little if I take it on an empty stomach so I always eat with it now. Aside from that I have not noticed any side effects. I take it with Vitex, Kelp, Siberian Ginseng, Vit. E, Multivitamin, Hawthorn, EPO, Milk Thistle and Wild Yam. I have one 7 year old DD thanks to this regimen and am now trying to heal my repro system again.
There are varying opinions on when to take it during your cycle although everyone agrees NOT to use it during your period as it can make bleeding worse. I personally use from O to AF. If there is no O then I start it sometime after day 14.

Sheri,
Thanks for sharing your experience with Dong Quai. My mom uses Dong Quai as well and has suggested I try it also. I am still trying to decide if I want to try progesterone cream or Dong Quai. I am supposed to start on Prometrium Nov. 1st, but I am not sure that I want to do that. I was on Provera for awhile and I had severe side-effects with it. I am really searching for what will work the best for me. Thank you again for sharing your experiences with me!

If it was between progesterone cream and dong quai, I'd take dong quai. Progesterone cream will only work if you have low progesterone. Dong quai has an estrogenic effect. But since it's an herb, it's qualities are so much more complex than that. It just depends on what you need.
