Will it ever end?? Now my little fella has gastro!!
We have been having such a rough trot. Mackenzie has had a cold, then Chicken Pox then another cold...finally 4 weeks late he had his 4 month immunisation last week. The next day he had a bit of a runny nose but was otherwise fine. 2.30 Saturday am his diarrhoea started and pretty much hasn't stopped since. (It is now Tuesday pm). I ended up taking him to Sunday and then again today as he now has blood in his nappies. He is feeling better now as he is starting to smile a bit more and not be quite so clingy, but has a very red bottom. Luckily he is a huge baby (20weeks and 9.1kg) so it won't worry me too much if he looses a bit of weight but he seems to be fine. Doctors say he has an infection but are hesitant to give him antibiotics as they often cause diarrhoea in little ones. My poor little monkey! I can't wait till his immune system build up a bit. There goes my trying to get him to sleep through the night! Oh well, he is slowly starting to get better, I wonder what next week will bring us!

I don't want to start a debate about whether vaccines are a good thing or not, but it may be the vaccine that has caused the diarrhoea rather than gastro.

Tas, I would have thought the same only my husband had the diarrhoea for a couple of days before Mackenzie got it. He did get a little lump from the vaccine this time (he didn't from the first one). Who knows. The diarrhoea is finally slowing down but it is still there. The doctor said he had an infection in his bowel which you wouldn't get if it was an adverse reaction to the vaccination. My poor old hubby feels horrible now but at least he has been a bit more concientious about washing his hands which can't be a bad thing

Well Mackenzie's bug ended up being Salmonella and we spent a night in hospital He is fine now but apparently the bug will be in his system for up to two months. It is so nice to have him laughing and smiling again. Life's good!
