Default Will Glucophage Help?

Since going off of bcp in July, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels have been elevated, which is odd considering that I don't eat red meats, eggs, sweets, etc.

I was newly diagnosed in January, and the doctor discussed possible use of Glucophage in the future.

From what I've been able to find it is a "side effect" of the PCOS diagnosis. My only other symptoms are that of polycystic ovaries. My first month I was on Provera to induce AF, and 50mg. of Clomid CD5-9.

Has anyone noticed their levels more in line with the use of Glucophage?

Thanks for any insight.

This is definetly a PCOS side effect. The High Insulin levels associated with lots of PCOS'ers contributes to both of these.

My BP has always been fine (except when I was pregnant), but my cholesterol was very high, especially my triglycerides. With the help of met, IR diet and exercise, I have brought my cholesterol/triglycerides to normal and my other hormones, periods etc have all normalized too. These things resolve when your hormones are where they need to be, and met can really help with that.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

It's funny because I really wasn't too upset when I got the results, figuring that it had to do with the PCOS since it just appeared out of nowhere, and I exercise regulary and eat on the "healthy" side.

I just figured it was the darn syndrome again...lol!!

Default Hi

I'm newly on Metformin and newly diagnosed with high BP. The BP was discovered in late January, before I started Met.

I am now up to 2000 mg. of Met per day and am taking Benicar for BP. My BP has come down, but is still elevated. I haven't seen a significant drop in my BP since being on the Met and BP meds.

My triglycerides thankfully have not been elevated. I have only lost 2.5 lbs. so far and 12 inches (overall).

I'm hoping that I will soon start to see benefits from the Met, new eating habits, working out at Curves.

Good Luck to you!
