Question Will my Ob/gyn offer me fertility treatment or refer me on?

I have my first appointment with my ob/gyn in 3 weeks. Will they give me infertility treatments like metformin and clomid or will they refer me to an RE? Not really sure what to expect... Thanks! Oh, and I'm in Australia.

Well here in the US, they tend to see what they can do for you first. Then if all else fails, you may want to see an re.

Weird I replied to this message last night and it must not have registered! Anyways Im in NSW and I was diagnosed by my obgyn and he was happy to put me on clomid and met straight up as we had been trying for a while anyways. But I decided to go on the pill to try and lose some weight first. When I got bored of that (cuz its soooo hard) we decided to just keep trying anyways so I saw my gp (who was working closely with the obgyn) and was able to go on met and clomid as soon as I asked for it...

have you been officially diagnosed with pcos? like thru a blood test? cuz I think that if you definently have pcos they will quite willingly give you the clomid.

Hope this helps! Hope your able to conceive soon!!!

Hi, am in australia also, just got back from GP today after deciding to TTC #1 again with new DB (diagnosed 5 yrs ago when TTC with ex). Am getting blood test done and ultrasound and talk of referring to private fertility specialist. Is gyno in between? Did I miss a step? Confused. Wishing everyone all the best in their journeys

Unhappy

Anybody else in QLD? When doing first lot of treatment in WA it was fully covered by medicare, but i now discover as am about to embark on treatment again that it is not covered in QLD. Is cost really expensive, am bit disheartened

i thought medicare was national? that seems so weird.

bring on the day they cover hair removal, or at least let the health funds do so. that would be sweet.
