Default will someone help me?

hi. my name is jeannie and im 17 years old. im new to this board. i was so happy when i saw that this place existed, because i thought that PCOS was really rare and i was just some kind of freak. i found out a few months ago that my weight problem and hair loss and growth in wierd places was becaise of this.

right now im on glucophage and im supposed to be taking it twice daily... but i have trouble remembering. my memory has never been good and im easily distracted. the only way i remmeber is if someone reminds me.

i was wondering... could someone, if they are online and see this, IM me and remind me? i spend a good amount of time on the computer for homework and writing for my local paper, and im almost always on AIM. it would be a huge help to me if someone could help me out with remembering.

thank you,

jeannie

i don't mind reminding you, if I remember, but you have to figure out a way, on your own, to take this medication for when the cysters aren't around.

I have a really difficult time remebering to take my medicine too. Here's what I do. I put my medicine in a medicine case (you know, one of those monday through sunday pill cases). I put it somewhere completely obvious so that it's in my face during some point of the day. For me, what works best is my purse. I put it in the place where I know my hand goes most of the time that I reach in my purse. And my purse goes everywhere I do (since my license, military i.d, etc. have to go where i go). And on the chance that i do remember to take my meds, I have it at my disposal no matter where I am when I remember.

If you're a student, put it in one of those pencil cases that goes in a notebook, or a pocket of your backpack. Do what works for you!! I take the metformin (glucophage) 3 times a day now, so now, not only do I have to remember to take it those three times, I have to wonder did I take all 3????? So I put the three all in the same days case and then I can see how many are left as I take them through out the day.

Good luck for finding a way to remember. Do you yahoo? I'm rasburryswirl on yahoo, so message me and I'll remind you from time to time. I don't do aol.

You could ask your doc to switch you to the extended release version (Glucophage XR); that way, you could take it just once a day and it would be easier for you to remember. Many take it at night before bedtime, which also helps to alleviate any side effects.
