Try an anti-inflammatory diet like Dr.Perricone or The Fat Flush diet...and be sure to add purified fish oil and/or epo/flax oils. The main thing is to eliminate processed foods from your diet.
In terms of suppressing the inflammatory response of PCOS and obesity, diets like Atkins are not very helpful even if they are "low carb."
Good luck

I can definitely notice a change in my hair loss according to my weight. I had lost 30 pounds and it was pretty minimal. Since my son I have put it all back on and my hair loss is crazy. I hope that losing weight will help you too. GOOD LUCK!!

Elevated testosterone caused my hair loss. Once I started the Metformin it lowered my testosterone-quickly. ( 2 months from 119 to 40) My levels are now at a steady 19. Have you had your testosterone checked?

Yes, it has helped mine. I had VERY thick hair before I started losing so much hair. It has really thinned out..no balding but it has become really thin. I started a weightloss plan about 5 months after I started losing my hair. I had known I had pcos for years before but it never had manifested any symptoms like this. Sure, the weight gain was bad but I always told myself I could go on a diet anytime. The hairloss is what got me motivated. It sounds vain doesn't it? After I lost 50 pounds it started to thicken a little again but I doubt it will ever be as thick as it use to be and there are still days where I feel like I am "shedding" a lot of hair. I feel very lucky still and count my lucky stars after reading posts that other ladies have left. Plus, I am still working on my weight regardless of my hair, I have come to accept that my thick hair is in the past. Being healthy is of my main concern now.
also im taking a multivitamin now...that also seems to help..good luck

someone also said that rinsing with apple cider vinegar helps ....I tried it but it made my hair smell awful.
But taking ACV internally might help. I have been taking 2 tbs before each meal 3 times a day. It's supposed to really help with insulin resistance which is thought to be the basis of all PCOS symptoms.

And if you choose to try this you should get a natural, unfiltered brand of this like the Whole Foods, GNC, or Bragg brands. Ive found that the whole foods brand is a little harsh on the stomach though.
