I know this has been posted before, but I wanted to ask you ladies which Angels would be best for a mommy struggling with a loss. My sister delivered my nephew at 31 weeks via c-section due to a placental abruption and he passed away shortly after birth. I want to get her a couple of angels on his birthday so that she has something beautiful to remember him by that most people won't ask awkward questions about (she has his footprints and handprints, but she can't stand to have them out in the house because people always ask about them).
I'm so sorry for your sisters loss Those willowtree angels had me in tears everytime i saw them especially after i lost aimee and dana...there are so many to choose from. For me it was the mother holding her pregnant belly, rubbing it like i always used to...that one got me everytime. I know there is one of a little boy on his knees looking up to heaven...but whichever one you choose she will cherish it i'm sure. I will say it might make her emotional at first imo...but as long as you are prepared for that i think its a wonderful gesture.

Kim - Thank you for the ideas. I'm sure it will be emotional at first (especially as I intend it for a birthday gift) but I think right now, she is going through such a hard time because no one wants to talk about him or remember him. They just have that whole "move on" syndrome and I don't want to be that insensitive. And I think she needs something beautiful that she can look at every day, think of him, and not feel bad about thinking about him.
My heart goes out to your sister, I am truly sorry for her loss. This is a link that shows some really sweet willow tree angles. I personally have the little girl with the gold heart - her tag says "kept forever in the heart" there is also a little boy, his is heart of gold. I aso like the first one, HOPE with the little wire balloon.

another great idea(s)....
1. an angel figurine that she can put out in her yard..like the kind you put in the garden. I have one that I can see from my kitchen window...and I do lots of dishes, so I am always looking out at it!
2. How about planting a tree/bush/flower type thing in her yard in his honor?
You are doing the right thing about talking about him....bring it up...ask her questions...even if she cries.....she'll be happy that somebody can share her grief with her, even if only for a moment.

I received one of these figurines as a Christmas gift after I lost Matthew the month before...I think it was the most thoughtful gift I've ever received. It was the couple dancing or holding each other...called "Promise." At the time, all i had was my husband to cling to... it really meant so much to me that my cousin thought of us in that way.
This past christmas, I was shopping and came across the angel figurine holding a small boy. I nearly broke into a crying fit when I saw it at the Hallmark store. I had to walk around the store, trying to hold back the tears. So I finally managed to tell the woman that i wanted to buy it. I am sure she thought i was crazy. So I bought it and brought it home. At that time, the baby to me would be around the age that Matthew would have been this past christmas. That figurine is called "Angel's Embrace." Everytime I look at it, it just brings tears to my eyes.
Recently I went to Cracker Barrell and they had these figurines there...and there was one, again, where Matthew would be if he had lived....learning to walk...they had that figurine called "guardian angel"
I swear i think the signs are everywhere. I wrote to the company who said they would forward my email to the woman who created the figurines. They said that she likes to hear about how her work affects people. So I told her my story.
They are such simple, yet very powerful pieces..saying so much and touching the hearts of many.

Tears in my eyes.... DH bought me a Willow tree angel, but it is of a girl reading. I wish I had the one with the girl with the heart. I had been looking for one for my twins that I lost. Couldn't find one that had two angels or babies. Still looking for one.
Pixie-I know what you mean about people trying to forget and avoiding. Every time it comes up when I talk to my mom, she changes the subject in the next breath. Hurts a lot.

It is so nice of you to remember like this - I too know what you mean about people not wanting to talk about it.

Diana, I am looking at the pictures of the angels you attached (especially the second two) and sitting at my desk at work and crying. I'm going to buy one of them (maybe both; we'll see ) on my way home from work tonight.
