Hi,
I was diagnosed barely a week ago and I'm heading back to the doctor tomorrow for the full lab results (hormones, insulin, etc.)
I am 22, soon to be 23, and I had been gaining a lot of weight the last year and a half. I went from 135 to 190 in that time (I'm 5'3".) I had the facial hair, acne and dandruff, but I just ignored them.
Finally, I went to the gyn when I had been skipping a month for about 6 months. I had heard that can mean one of the ovaries wasn't working.
I had an ultrasound and with the large cysts and my symptoms the doctor told me I had PCOS.
Tomorrow I will be sitting down with the doctor and reviewing all the tests so she can give me a treatment plan.
I'm nervous and a little sad. I know that PCOS isn't a "you will never have kids" diagnosis, but I am recently married (June) and it just hurts to know there is a chance we won't have any. I am also worried about diabetes.
Well, I hope I am welcome here and I know I can learn a lot.
Thanks,
Courtney
