WLS in the UK on the NHS?

Hi everyone!

I came across this forum from a google search and have spent the last couple of hours or so reading.

I am very interested in trying to get surgery on the NHS, but I don't know what to expect from my doctor. Also how would you approach it with your doctor? What sort of criteria do you have to meet to be eligible for the surgery. Also, how long did you have to wait on the list before the surgery?

I am currently a size 30 and 24 years old. I've researched the different options and the risks etc. I'm just desperate for help and I cannot afford to go privately.

I just feel that if I go to the doctor to ask for the referral I'll be refused. I know that this is probably my lack of self confidence, but I cannot help but feel this way.

i am not from the UK so I do not know but I would suggest asking your question on www.obesityhelp.com its a website for people who have had or looking at having WLS

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, it does not say much about the system in the UK.
