Woman on the Way Woman on the Way, by Hilary
The woman opens her eyes and rises
To meet the new day before her
The woman sees a faraway goal
At the top of a tall mountain
She had stumbled and fallen
Trying to reach the laurel wreath
Victory was her dream
But the road twisted under her
So she sank down in despair
As others passed her by
But, like a phoenix from the ash
She rises and spreads her wings
Slowly, she starts up the mountain
Her eyes are firmly on the horizon
Soon, the woman will be flying
Her sandals winged like Mercury's
Nothing can stop her
From wearing the victor's crown
Toga flapping, she climbs steadily
A woman on the way
