I had this posted on the old BB but thought I should add it over here for any cysters in the Houston area looking for a good RE.
I absolutely LOVE this doctor and his staff!!! His name is Dr.Randall Dunn and he's with the OGA group at Women's Hospital on Fannin. 713-512-7500 OGA 713-512-7826 Dr.Dunn http://obgynassociates.com/dunn.html
I just cannot say enough good things about him. He is my ~*ANGEL~* I owe my PG to him completely. He understands PCOS and treats quite a few PCOS patients.
There are two other docs in his office who I've never seen personally but have also heard good things about, Dr. Leah Shenck and Dr. Valdes (both females).
On a different note, my first RE was also at OGA, Dr. George Grunert...stay away from him at all costs!!! He has no bedside manner and is there for your money, not to help you. He wouldn't diagnose my PCOS and wanted us to go straight from Clomid to IVF!
Feel free to email me if you'd like any more info on either doc, I'll tell you all I know

I also see a RE in Houston. His name is Dr. Wheeler--he is an RE,Ob/Gyn and infet. spec. He is located in the ONE Fannin bldg. in suite 1140. His office number is (713)797-9200--they answer the phone Center for Women's Health! I have been going to him for a total of 4-5 years.
How long did you end up going to Dr. Grunert? and did he put you on glucophage or Dr. Dunn? Only been going to Dr. Grunert for an month and I can't really say that I'm all that dissatified but feeling I may need the glucophage by just hearing all the comments on the board....been trying for a year and Dr. Grunert has done a whole lot compared to my OB. But, I'm wondering should I be going to a doctor that will prescrible glucophage. I really want to try it.
Hi,
I would recommend that if you aren't happy and satisfied with your RE that you change. Or ask your current RE about his side/reply about/ of Gluc. You educate him on the benefits and what not! I will recommend Dr. James M. Wheeler in the ONE Fannin Bldg. in suite 1130 or 1140--I can't recall right now. Take Care of your health--you are your best advocate for your body!
Thrilled to hear this...I am trying to decide between Dr. Dunn, Dr. Wheeler and Dr. Roach and Dr. Cecilia Valdes.....North Houston Center for Reproductive Medicine or Dr Dunn's group would be the best for me because I live north of Houston BUTTT if I want to go to the best doctor for me so I am open to the one down near the astrodome as well....I am really interested in the costs...of course that is the biggest obstacle....I may be able to switch to BCBS or CIGNA I am in the process of trying to find out if they will cover anything..I am so excited about seeing a specialist....my curent OB seems very set on IVF and I am just not there yet..>I want some more evaluation and treatment of my hormone problems and anovulation...Thanks for any additional information and CONGRATS on your gorgeous baby!
I'm moving to Houston in about a month and while my insurance won't start until October, I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a primary care, ob/gyn, or dentist...whatever.
This will be my first time looking for a doctor without my parents (we've always just gone to the same doctors as a family)
Thanks for the tips ladies!
One thing you'll find when you get here (if you haven't visited) is that it's a VERY large city! It would help to give you recommendations if we knew what part of town you'll be living/working in.
ALSO...please feel free to PM me here or email me directly (can do so through SC) if you'd like once you get here. I've lived here almost forever and may be able to help out with other things as well.

I live in Kingwood but travel to OGA to see Dr. Leah Schenk. I love her. She spends as much time as you need asking questions and stuff. I am not TTC but will be in the next 18 months. She is very knowledgable about PCOS. I would agree with the statement about Dr. Dunn and Dr. Valdes. They are both great too.
This doctor apparently ROCKS...I have an appt with him next month...A lady in my church (mymentor) had been talking with some friends in Houston about finding me a good doctor....she brought me his name and I said "I already have an appointment with him" We were excited...Can't wait to meet him!

I would really like to know people's thoughts on Dr. Roach. I am thinking about seeing her. I dont live in houston, so I will have to commute because we have no REs in my city at all, but her office is the closest to me.
