I have been on Retin-A Micro for a short while now and I have to say that once I got through the initial peeling, etc that this stuff is amazing! I have had cystic acne my entire life and the older I get, the worse it gets. Now my skin is so awesome! I have no visible pores anymore and the redness and scars are almost completely faded. The best part is that my crow's feet are all gone! Even my husband noticed the other day that I have no wrinkles on my face anymore. I know that the design of Retin-A is that it makes your cells turnover faster, etc but I was not expecting this result at all. Has anyone else had a really good result with the Retin-A as far as the overall appearance of their skin?
I didn't have great results with Retin-A Micro, but when I tried Atralin (which is the same active ingredient, different formulation and strength), it worked wonders. I'm young enough that there weren't any fine lines for it to obliterate, but I joke that I won't have any for a really long time because it refined my skin so much. It shrunk my typically large pores, and helped with my oily skin. I also make sure to use UVA/UVB protection with it....my mineral makeup has titanium dioxide in it, and that has kept me from getting sunburn while using retinols.
I have noticed too that you can barely see my pores anymore. I have always had big pores and now they are tiny. The Met has helped with the new acne and the Retin-A has helped heal the old stuff as well as with getting rid of the scars. I am so excited!
i have not recently had the success with the retin a that i have in the past. proactive has been a miracle though!! Do you guys think i could combine the proactive with the retin A??

I read somewhere that ben. peroxide (active ingred in ProActive) and Retin-A will cancel each other out when used at the same time. Now, I don't know if you could do the ProActive at morning at Retin-A at night or not. I would be afraid it would be too harsh on your skin to use both at once. I just know that while using the Retin-A my skin in SO sensitive. I can only use Cetaphil cleanser and Cetaphil lotion w/out SPF. I wear make up with SPF 30 to get the protection as it seems to bother my skin less once the lotion is on. Good luck!
Hmm...I use benzoyl peroxide on days that I don't use a retinol product and it seems to help keep my skin really clear and pores tight, especially during my period when I tend to break out unless I really keep tabs on things. I also used it when I was first starting the retinol and getting an initial breakout. I think maybe the interaction is bad if, like EODWife2002 said, you use them at the same time.
Oooh, I'm glad I read this. I'm off to my derm soon. I'm almost clear on spiro but still have facial break outs so this could be the answer to my prayers!! I'm all excited. Does it actually slow down the ageing process? I'm a bit sensitive about the lines appearing on my forehead.

I am currently on retin a0.05%, so far its doing miracles, my acne is dissappearing, my face looks fantastic, I'm not ashame anymore of my acne but my facail hair is still imbarrasing, I am currently taking retin a and dianne 35, and I"ve heard that dianne helps with acne and also helps slows the growth of facial hair, This is my sec cycle on dianne so next cycle I'll be going to get a laser hair removal.
