Default wonky thyroid

Well what the hell. I guess I'm going all to pot after having a baby. I felt like crap not to mention all the weird fevers and whatnot. Went to the doctor got a urinalysis, he took blood looked in every orifice and told me I had a virus.

Blood results were normal for liver kidneys etc so no UTI, lungs seemed fine and ears were normal, no throat problems.

Well my thyroid results came back wonky.

TSH is suppressed at 0.05
Free T3 is midrange at 376 (230-420)
Free T4 is low at 1.0 (0.8-1.8)

My T3&T4 suggest I could use a doseage increase but by TSH shows hyper. Makes no sense. I feel like I need an increase.

I guess now my pituitary is malfunctioning. :| I should not be surprised considering the train wreck my attempt at breastfeeding was!

Default my goodness

My goodness that sure sounds strange.
Did you ever have the thyroid function test done where they use dye and scan your thyroid to see how well its working?
I sure hope they get something figured out soon for you. Keep us posted.I'''m very curious to hear what they end up doing for you.

I agree with Living 2 Be Alive...

Welcome to the wonderful world of the post-partum thyroid...

Mine went absolutely nuts when I was pregnant and went nuts after I had my son. It's perfectly normal for things to get all messed up (too many hormone fluctuations and what-not)...

My advice...wait another month and get it all tested again...Also, what were your thyroid peroxidase levels? Autoimmune thyroiditis and PCOS love each other very much. Make sure your thyroid isn't an autoimmune problem. I have that (never knew it, no one told me about it yet...I know about the antibodies because my OB mentioned it!)

Anyway...

I will pray for you that things straighten out for you...this just stinks!

Stacie

I am going through the same thing. My TSH is very suppressed at .01, but my Free numbers are below mid range. My Endo. told me to come down a little on my meds, but I didn't because I knew I wasn't hyper. I tried it for a couple of weeks and felt like I was going hypo. again. NO WAY!
He is also looking for a pituitary problem, but I have no idea what will happen from here. Please keep me posted. I am fairly new to all of this. I was just diagnosed hypo/hashis last September and PCOS (not even quite sure about it) this past March.

Shenacat,

When do you go back for more testing? I am very curious as I am going through the same thing.

I don't know. I am losing my current health insurance by the end of this month and have to sign up for another plan. I'd have to pay for all the tests and whatnot myself; thing is that most insurance co.s make you wait 6 months or so before treating known conditions (WTF? I don't get that...) so I may have to pay for it myself anyways.
