Well, we got our temporary foster license in the mail on Friday, and the agency got their copy yesterday, so now we're in their computers, and able to accept placements! Yay.. so.. any day now

We were legally licenced in the beginning of May 2005, and received our first placement on May 26th, 2005. Good luck to you!

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.

Well, ladies, we got our first call for a placement, and I had to say no. We only have 1 bed right now, and I'm reluctant to buy another single, as we're wanting to get beds that are bunkable, but also unbunkable, if you know what I mean. So sad. Two little boys, siblings, 6 and 7, part of a sib group of 4, the other two were placed in another home, and I so wanted to, but I just couldn't, since well, we don't have the facilities for two right now, plus DH and I want just one right now so we can adjust to being parents instead of just the two of us. *sigh* Hopefully that next call comes soon.

Sorry to hear you had to turn down the placement. I was just wondering if actually having two siblings might be easier than just one child. They would at least have each other to play with and maybe feel safer being together? Just a thought.
Good luck! Hopefully the next one will be the perfect match for you guys

I agree that two might have each other to be with.
But I so understand just wanting one to start with.
I hope the right call comes soon!

Thanks guys And we would take a sib pair, but right now, we only have one bed, and we all know the state laws on beds! I plan on getting a set of bunkbeds that are unbunkable, but it's going to take some time to find one, they aren't common at all.
The right call WILL come.. I know it will!

We want the unbunkable, cause in our state, kids under 6 can't be on the top bunk, so if we get a sib group that's say, a 3 and 5yr old, we're SOL if we have fixed bunks

The unbunkable ones are nice. We have a set that were my family's when I was growing up. We had them in the extra room for a while bunked up but now they are upstairs in an extra room, but upstairs they are unbunked because it's not tall enough up there for them bunked.
Our boys were 5 and almost 7 when they moved in and separated from their younger siblings. If you are able to get the bed situation resolved, I encourage you to consider a sibling group. I think it helped them adjust better because they had a familiar face and didn't feel alone.
Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out
