I posted a couple of weeks ago looking for info on lazer hair removal in Scotland - and since then I've decided to go for it - just thought I'd post my experience so far..
Found 'Sk:n' clinic in Glasgow - and I've just had my first lazer bikini line treatment.
First appointment they basically talk you through the treatment itself - pros and cons etc and check for any medical contraindications - then I got a 'skin test' where basically they gave you three different levels of lazer to check whether your skin reacts to them. I think they are mainly checking for 'pigmentation' changes rather than rashes etc.
The three levels they tested me with - first low level - didn't feel a thing - second level - slight vague burning - third level - a slight discomfort. This was good news for me apparently as I'm able to easily tolerate the highest level that they will use for that area - so ultimately should get better results.
So one week later - went back for first proper 'treatment' - I hadn't noticed any skin changes so was happy to go ahead. It wasn't too painful at all - they used the high setting and it was slightly 'eye-watering' at times - mainly due to the fact that you have to remove any hair prior to treatment - and I had a slight 'shaving' rash there which was slightly irritated to begin with. Overall the pain was a lot less than getting waxed there.
It's all over very quickly - and afterwards didn't feel any discomfort at all. Not expecting to notice any differences in regrowth yet... but fingers crossed after a few more treatments I can hopefully be able to notice a difference.
Only downside so far - how blinking expensive is it?? There's not a lot of options for shopping around here in Scotland so it's pretty much a case of do you want it done or not - I've seen a lot better prices at other clinics - I guess competition in this field is a good thing.
I'll try and update and let you know how the rest of the treatments go
you must have a great pain threshold, because I used to take 2 of the highest dose of co-codamol an hour before I went in. I couldn't take the pain at all
Still, It's worth it because I don't have anything like the amount of hair that I used to! Well done to you
where in Glasgow are you? We're having a glasgow get together soon, I can't remember if we've chatted before

I probably do have a fairly high pain threshhold - which I guess is a bonus for this! The thought of not feeling like a yeti and having less ingrowing hairs easily overcomes any thoughts of pain!
I've just realised I should update my profile here - I moved to Falkirk over a year ago! But I'm still through in Glasgow a fair bit. Must look out for the meet-up -
The course of six treatments is costing just under the £600 mark - I'm getting an 'extended' bikini line - which I reckon is just another couple of zaps either-side from a 'normal' bikini line. Their regular bikini one is about the 400 mark.
Not that I'm likely to be seen in a bikini any time soon! - I'm quite bothered with boils and ingrowing hairs there - so want as much removed as possible - hence the entended

The Sk:n clinic is based in Gordon Street - just along from Central station so it's fairly handy to get to
I've read here also about the 'stabilising of hormones thing' but I asked at my appointment about effectiveness and hormones etc - but they can only really give you their 'minimum' statistics on it - ie 60% reduction in hair... yadda yadda yadda - you still fill in your disclaimer that 'absolutely nothing' might happen - and they have no control over it! - I've yet to speak to anyone who has anything overly negative to say about it all but I guess they have to cover their backs
If you have a letter from your GP or endo or gynae, saying that you have PCOS, then you get the course half price. I needed my 'full face' (cheeks chin neck) and it would've cost me £450 but it cost me £225. My hair was very course and black and now its either not there at all or it grows in fine and blonde.
They also have a machine for blonde hair that I might get...its the same deal, half price for cysters. I now only need cheeks and chin and its going to be £125 with the deal if I go ahead. I highly recommend it.
Michelle is my therapist and she's very very good. PM me if you need to know anything else.

do they have the IPL treatment in all marriot hotels? I can't find anything on their website. saving money would be great. is it £225 per treatment for 'full face'?
