Just wanted to share with you what I am doing to fight over depression, while TTC.
Because of the fertility treatments, I could not take any supplements to help with a mild depression that I have been experiencing in the past years, along with panic attacks and anxiety. And I did not wanted to try prozac or zoloft either.
So, I started taking fish oil everyday, working out 20 mins a day, and most importantly, trying to control my thoughts and feelings internally. I try to always think POSITIVE and to confront my fears so they start to dissapear.
Just saw the movie : "what the bleep do we know ?" which stresses out the importance of the power of the mind and how we can use it to heal ourselves. It is hard to really understand how to use all our mind´s potential, but at least we can give it a try to positive thinking.
Try to replace each negative thinking you have authomatically. For example, if you are starting to think negatively about a situation or person, immediatly stop yourself and replace that though with a positive one, even if it sounds stupid or you think it will not happen.
This has worked wonders for me. While I was depressed I was looking always and all the time at the negative side of everything that happened to me, and was always expecting the worst to happen. Now if something happens which in first instance does not seem positive, I try to see how it will become positive, and things just work out well.
I know this may not help severe depression, but I have seen it is working for me so far, and I think the fish oil and workout plus positive thinking are making a change.
Let me know if someone try this and it helps..
Hugs for you all.

My psychiatrist is a huge fan of fish oil. He recommends Omega 3, the cheap store kind. He said some of the other Omegas can actually make depression worse. He also said that the cheap Omega 3 comes from farm raise fish and so doesn't have high Mercury levels. Some of the fancy stuff is from deep water fish, so the Mercury levels might be questionable. I'm not good about rememberin to take it, though. He said that some of his patient have been able to come off their meds or decrease their dose after adding the Omega 3 to their routine. Keep it up!

Hi I was feeling better last winter when taking the Fish Oil but remembering it when I am in deep depression, bipolar, is a problem. I have started back taking it again in hopes that the winter is not as bad as previous winters...

Well there is no particular way to implement positive thinking...each one finds the best way to put it in practice, and believe me it is sometimes hard to try, because our mind tends to be into negative, so making the switch is difficult.
You basically have to remember that your goal is to think positive during the day. Try to write it down so you can constantly read it : maybe in your agenda, or at your fridge´s door, etc. Just remember yourself to try to switch to positive in every though you have each day.
If there is no way to change something that happened into positive, try to give it a different approach. For example if you lost an earing you wanted to use, instead of getting upset about it, just joke with yourself that this will be a good excuse to go out shopping for a new pair... Never, never call yourself with hostile descriptions like : I am so stupid, fool, fat, etc.... If you do not do it with others, then also never do it with yourself. Think positive about yourself too.
You will be amazed how many times you catch yourself going down the negative thinking road. The mind acts like a magnet, so try always to maintain it positive.
Quoting an old saying, but changing it into positive thinking, it will be summarized as : see no negative ( in situations that happen to you everyday look for the positive side ), hear no negative ( from you or from others, there are people who are really negative energy containers ! ), say no negative ( as what you say may and will become the truth !! )
