Red face Worried about gyn appointment.

I have an appointment with a gynaechologist on Monday. I really feel nervous and worried about it, I haven't seen one in two years cos all the appointments they sent were either on exam days for me or the letters just didn't even arrive.

I'm worried about what to say to him because the one before put me on metformin and I came off it because of the side effects, I told my doctor this and I am now on Inositol and NPC.

I know I have lost some weight but not a significant amount, and I am getting a little better, my hair is growing longer and faster. Only trouble is I'm getting unwanted hair which I never really used to have on my face, stomach and thighs.

I'm worried because this guy blames everything on my diet, but it's not that I eat too much, I'm sure it's because I eat too little, I tried a calorie counting diet and in the first two days I only counted up about 700 for those two days even though I set myself 1200 a day cos I read it was dangerous to go beneath that.
I know my gp said to me it's probably not a case of how much I'm eating it's what I'm eating because I don't know how to work it all out, one thing says on this diet you can have this, and on another thing of the same bloody diet says you can't have it.

I've ditched white bread, white pasta, white sugar, caffeine and all that stuff, including processed foods and I only have Basmati rice now because it's got a low Gi.

But despite all of this, I have yet to have a proper AF since 6th august last year, okay so I had a small bleed in april, but it was like, I found it, and that was that. and I had spotting in June, and that was the last I saw of it.

I'm going to University soon and I want to be able to learn to manage it before then. So that when I go, I can manage it properly and get myself into a routine.

I've heard of Provera, I'm thinking of asking to be put on it, but what exactly does it do? Because some people say it brings on AF, but others say it eases it off. So if I take it, will I get AF?

I also know that at the moment I'm playing around with different foods, I understand that if you eat something and feel terrible afterwards, It's not good for you? and if you eat something and it makes you feel good, and not bloated etc, it is good for you?
Well this is what I'm doing at the moment, I've begun to see the differences between the foods I'm eating, if it makes me feel good, I have it, if it makes me feel crappy, I leave it out. Seems simple enough, right?

I'm just really at a loss of what I'm going to say to him, as I don't want another bloody doctor having a go at me when I am still, like so many others, learning about how to handle this thing.

I'm sorry that you're so stressed, sounds like you have a lot going on. Remember to keep a couple deep breaths.
Your relationship with your healthcare provider is important and if you feel as though you are not being listened to or that you can't speak the truth I would recommend a switch.
I don't have any experience with the hair issues but I could write a book about the things food can do. First piece of knowledge - you can have a reaction to a food 3 days after you eat. So while the don't eat stuff that makes you feel bad is a good start sometimes it's hard to tell what is making you feel bad. The best way to know is to do an elimination diet. There is a test that you can take (which is what I did because elimination diets take too much self control for me).
Remember to eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, get enough protein and eat breakfast (something I struggle with).
Good luck at your appt. I think you should write down the things you want to discuss so that you don't go off topic. And as hard as it - being honest is the best thing you can do.

Let us know how it goes!

Thank you for your advice

I am honest when I go to the doctor, because I want them to know how I feel, they won't be able to help me if I'm keeping things from them. Thats the way I look at it anyhoo.

I've not ever heard of elimination diets, I'll have to look it up. =)

I'm not going to be seeing this gyn again because one of the things I have to ask for there on monday is a referral to another one cos I'm going away to University.

I'm just so worried because my GP said to ask him for Provera, but I don't know anything about it really. So that is kinda adding towards my anxiety.
