Default Worried about ovarian cancer:( need help

I am so terrified right now about ovarian cancer, i've been posting on every message board i can think of to see if anyone knows about it. I have an appointment fri at 10 but i can't function right now due to fear! I'm so nauseous, can't eat and i have been that way for 5 days now, I have alot of the symptoms of ovarian cancer except bloating. Does anyone know about it? What are the key symptoms? Are there any?

Please help I've already convinced myself that i have it without a doubt

If you run a google search, you can find links to great sites like Mayo Clinic and the American Cancer Society that will have more comprehensive information.

But ultimately, your doctor will have to run tests.

I've self-diagnosed ovarian cancer many times. But many of the symptoms are common of other ailments. They call it the "silent killer" because generally so few of the outward symptoms are detectable. A lot of the symptoms are similar to endometriosis (no walk in the park, either, but better than cancer). Frequent urination can be a UTI. The GI stuff can be a lot of different things.

The odds are greatly in your favor that you don't have it. I'll assume you're getting a pelvic ultrasound?? Try to relax when you go in there because if you are tense the procedure will be more uncomfortable -- take deep breaths, have a cup of tea or a warm shower or something before your appointment.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

If you're at high risk because of genetics you should definitely talk to your doctor about going on the pill, if you're not on it already. Many studies show it cuts the risk of ovarian cancer in half, and if you have endo it might help with that, too.
