First, I have to say, "Wow!" I found this site this afternoon and am so impressed with the support for everyone... quite encouraging.
I'm posting because I'm trying to find out more info. without diagnosing myself. I know this is gonna be a doosy of a post, but I really have tried to shorten as much as possible...
I had my first period when I was 15 (will be 25 this Sept.) and the first few months were fine... once my period regulated itself though, the intense cramps set in. Most everyone I've spoken with says, "Oh, you poor thing!" and that's about it. My only comfort is that my Aunt can relatively (pun!) relate as she stated she had awful periods before having her children. At any rate, I don't have much of other symptoms ...occasionally, my breasts will be quite tender and once, I had lower back pain. The only pain I consistently have is cramps... and they are literally debilitating; I can hardly walk and at times, can hardly breathe. I will tremble and become extremely nauseous and occasionally, become light headed and start to hyperventilate, only exacerbating the light-headedness. It's intense and I cannot function... this all comes and goes in about 5-7 hours in the first day of my period, like clockwork each month. Over the counter drugs can't even take the edge off ...there are only two things I have found that make it bearable (still can't work, drive, do normal activities, though): one being a muscle relaxant, Flexerol (found this out after it was originally prescribed due to a car accident in 12/05) and the other being a painkiller, Tramadol/Ultram (I'll get to how that came about a little further down).
In 8/06, I was at work and had this sudden and severe "stabbing" pain in my right pelvic area. I couldn't stand up or walk on my own... very hard to breathe. I went to the ER and after they did a boatload of tests, it was determined I had a cyst with slight torsion on my right ovary; it ended up rupturing while there and blood was found in my urine. The doctor mentioned he saw a few other cysts, too, and if they were going to rupture, it would probably be within a few months but most likely, they would resolve themselves.
Sometime in mid-2007, the middle and right sections of my lower abdomen were really tender and painful to the touch. I remember feeling what felt like knotty indentations (from the surface, the skin was normal but feeling it, it was like a line of tiny fibrous, inward lumps - but not bulges, if that makes sense). Other than that, 2007 was free of any major issues aside from "normal" period stuff.
In 1/09, I had the same feeling (same side, too) start so I drove myself to the ER again, not knowing if it would be worse than the first time. The cyst already ruptured by the time I got the ER and it looked like there was a possible infection and was prescribed antibiotics. It was also recommended I see an OBGYN for follow-up treatment... I don't have any insurance and was already so stressed about finances, I opted to wait and see if I felt better. This time was little different in that I was so sore (hurt to even have underwear on), I saw an OBGYN a few days later. She prescribed Tramadol (generic for Ultram). It took about a week for my normal level of energy to return and start feeling like myself again.
A few months ago, I believe I had another one (same side) cyst rupture ...and now, for the kicker: this past Friday, I was feeling fine then got a bloody nose out of the blue that didn't stop for approx. 25-30 minutes and I passed A LOT of blood clots ...and these weren't just tiny, these little buggers were h-u-g-e. I got so hot all of the sudden and starting sweating, then became clammy, and then started feeling faint and incredibly nauseous. Needless to say, I left work early. I started feeling better that afternoon. Early the next morning (started my period in the middle of the night), I woke up with the most outrageous cramps I've probably had in over two years... it was bad, bad, bad. I took the Tramadol and managed to feel fine later that afternoon. Sunday I felt fine, just incredibly tired. Then today... oh, boy... I think I had another cyst rupture. I left work early and faced the pain with the Tramadol and hoped it would go away (I'm still in debt from the 2nd ER visit and still have no insurance - I'm one of the "lucky" ones who makes too much for state assistance but can't afford to buy it on my own). The nausea was incredibly intense and the pain was very similar with the two previous "episodes" except for I now have this sorta full feeling and that kinda stretched, fibrous feeling just in the right abdomen area is back again. The symptoms of the rupture started at about 1P.M. and it is now about 5:30P.M.
Some other tidbits that may or may not be related: #1 - for the past few years, I've sorta thought I've had a problem with low bloodsugar and will (maybe once a month) have an episode where I need juice and protein immediately or I'll get a cold-sweat, feel dizzy, nauseous, and feel jittery. Once I have the juice/sugar and protein, I feel good as new in about 10 minutes ...like nothing ever happened. In the past two weeks, I've had three of these episodes. Oh, and this sort of stuff does not run in my family. #2 - years ago, during my first OBGYN visit, while doing the breast exam, the nurse noted I had a lot of "fibrous" tissue in my breasts... and a lot of "cottage cheese" feeling in the deep tissue. I'm wondering if this "fibrous" sorta knotted feeling in my right pelvic area isn't so unusual, just that I only recently noticed it in the past few years.
I called my OBGYN this afternoon and have an appt. for 9 A.M. tomorrow to try and get to the bottom of this. I'm stressed over what this could be... and how much money it's going to cost to find out! I know it needs to be done and am taking comfort in getting an action plan together to resolve the craziness the "not knowing" is doing to me!
Does this sound like anything anyone has experienced or heard about? I've read so much in regard to endometriosis and PCOS and don't want to self-diagnose but am thinking I may have it or something similar to it.
Thank you for your patience in reading this... and I apologize for the inconsistency of grammatical syntax - still doped on meds!
Any help would be much appreciated...
