Default Worse side effects of metformin after baby?

I stopped metformin after baby and tried going back on it ( Glucophage XR) after I stopped bf when he was about 6 months. I had terrible stomach cramps which my ob-gyn said was due to IBS, something which I've never had before. Tried to continue for a month or so and gave up. Recently tried normal met and it gave me terrible runs. But no IBS. Is this normal?? I never had such problems when I first started met. If so, how long will it take for my body to get adjusted ? I am currently also on Diane-35. (Love it, makes my skin beautiful, but am already 36 and don't want the risk of bloodclots!!) Could it be the combination that makes the side effects of met worse?? Thanks in advance for any info!

I too have experienced some wacky things on Met since the birth of my baby 4 1/2 months ago. Basically, I have the side effects without the benefits. It's just NOT working like it did a year and a half ago. And, my doc has upped me to 1500 mg vs 1000 before. What I've decided is, my post pregnancy baby is out of whack and it's going to take longer than before. I am, however, running out of my already non-existent patience.
