I have a relatively high testosterone level and I have had bad experiences with depo (everything) and the pill (moods) so I didn't want to take it if I didn't have to but I have so many annoying side effects from my hormone levels, sweating, hair growth, even my personality is off. Does anyone know if this would help it? My doctor has no idea and everytime I ask her about a symptom she writes me a prescription for a new med. Yikes. I was to get back to normal not take everything they make. Has bcp or other with estrogen helped anyone else?
While on Yasmin my total T was around 50. On no birth control I tested at 81. That alone has made me reconsider whether or not to go back on the pill. However I am now on spiro, met and simvastatin--all will hopefully lower my testosterone too. If you are on a cholesterol drug already see about switching to simva because there seems to be really promising research that it lowers testosterone in women w/ pcos.
I read in that hormone book that Ortho Tri on average (not the low version but the regular) lowers free (not total) testosterone by about half according to the author. But beware, some pills have testosterone in their progesterone so you have to pick and choose carefully.
It's so interesting. My level is 89 and that's with exercise and a pretty good diet and no hormonal birth control. It was the only measurement on my panel that was very high. Thanks for the help. I guess it's worth looking into!
