Before I started metformin my fasting insulin was 156!!!! As of this past Friday it is down to 29!!!! I realize that "normal" is supposed to be 10 and under...but I am on my way. My fasting glucose is 90!!!! I have been so worried about diabetes, etc...and I realize I am not out of the woods, but things are looking so much better for me now. My nurse is asking my doctor about upping my metformin to 2550. Currently I am on 2000mg. I have to give credit to the medication as well as me low carbing and losing 84 lbs so far!!! Of course God too!!! I am floating on cloud 9.

Wonderful news, Diane! Met + diet definetly was a 1-2 punch for me too. They really compliment each other well and make a huge difference to insulin..you're living proof! Anybody can just pop a pill,. but you're doing the very best you can do for your hormones. Congrats on the great labs and continued success!

Wow! Thats fantastic!! My fasting insulin was 140 and I'm checking it again in about 3 weeks. Here's hoping my dietry changes and the met will make a idfference just like you.
My fasting insulin is 26, which the Dr. said is double what normal insulin is..
I didn't know it got up higher than that. I thought mine must be really high.
He's putting me on 2000 mg. I started with 500 mg. for the first time today.
