Default wrong 2 hr GTT results??

I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy with twins. My blood sugar was back to normal within a day of delivering them so I hadn't thought anythign about it. Well, I had to return to the diabetic clinis for a six week follow up and had a 2 hour GTT last week and got the results this week in the mail.

My 2 hour was 169 and she said it should have been below 140. So, she told me to follow the strict diabetic diet I was on during pregnancy. Well, Tuesday night I had already had 3 pieces of fried fish, a large fry, two glasses of milk, and chocolate cookies so I tested 2 hours later expecting it to be through the roof. It was 103. I emailed my doctor to find out if the GTT could have been wrong and she just told me to follow the diabetic diet and return in 3 months.

How could I have eaten all of those carbs and got a low reading?? I just don't know what to think. I am so stressed out about trying to keep up with this on top of having 8 week old twins.

Did you eat before the follow-up test? I've always been told that the only way a GTT is accurate is if it's done fasting.

I'm confused - did you eat all that *after* getting the 169 results in the mail or before?

If it were me, I would continue following a diabetic diet and keeping track of my insulin levels for at least 2 weeks. If you find no evidence of continued elevation, I would bring that information to the doctor and ask to be tested again.

Good luck!

I fasted before the test last week.

I ate all of that this tuesday before I had gotten the letter from the doctor about following the diet and just tested my 2 hour level to see what it was....and was confused when it was low because I expected it to be through the roof.
