Question Xenical (Orlistat) anyone?

My Dr has suggested I try this drug after I've lost around 2lb for the next 5 weeks.

Quite annoyed about it as I'm no-where near obese, around 240lbs!

Thought I'd read up on it anyhow so if any Cyster has tried this, advice would be welcome.

I've been on xenical-
my experience-
started at 270lbs (1/01) and now today weight 223lbs.
But I also walked at least 30mintues a day, and watched what I ate. I only took it if I had a meal with a lot of fat in it. (and boy did I pay for it later) I learned quick what to eat and what not to eat. (on top of 2000mgs of metformin!) I was Mrs. Bathroom for the first 3 months-

I also stretch the 90 pills-one month supply into more like 3 or 4 months-because I only take 1 pill usually a day if I"m lucky (usually my supper meal) so it stretches the money of it too- which is always good-but I also think I could have done it without it.

My mom is also on it-but she hasn't had the results I have- and she doens't walk as much. SO...

that's about it-it's an ok resource-if you don't abuse it-=plus you need to change your life style if it will work (the fat intake that is) if you don't eat a lot of fat now-then this is not the DRUG for you!

It can be a messy experience if you arent prepared to stick with a low low low low fat diet...
I couldnt do it .. I shat (scuz the expression) myself at turkey dinner at a fancy resturant when I was on it...so ! I dont endorse this product...
But it also sounds like it works for people so ?
I would only suggest it if you dont ever fall off the wagon with your diet....

Good luck !

Very true....

It seemed to take about anywhere from 12-24 hours for the "SIDE EFFECT" to happen- and least expected- so make sure you don't work or have anything important to do-because least expected again- you can be just standing there and then all of a sudden- poop happens-FAST...

But like i said if you have a lowto moderate fat meal and take it then then the side effect isn't so bad-

I like it, but can see where a lot of people wouldn't it-

Also helped me cut my fat-because I think about what would happen.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your replies on the subject. I am still undecided, I don't think the shock of my Dr suggesting it has sunk in yet!

I eat quite healthy and also low-fat already so maybe it's a bit pointless for me to take it. I could do with being a little more stricter on my intake and exercising so maybe if I worked on that before I took tablets, I might not need them?

The pops doesn't sound at all nice either, luckily I'm not on Metformin but when I was, I didn't get that side effect so perhaps I'd be lucky and get away with it?! LOL

Thanks anyhow, your advice was appreciated!

Hi,
I was Xenical for a year! I was 180 lbs and now am 153 lbs. My RE said for anyone 40+ over their hieght/weight ratio ---along with body fat/mass indicator! I went to a dietican and she helped me to stay 30% and less fat diet. Otherwise get prepared for the messy side effects! I also walked 1.5 miles 3-4 times a week. Please e-mail me if you have any further questions! AJ
