Red face Ya' know (?)....down there...

I don't want to gross anyone out! If you have a weak stomach, go now before my problem makes you hurl!

Okay so I have acne all over my body.....but when I started gaining weight with PCOS I started to get acne ....down there. Not directly on it...but the upper part of my legs. But this is serious...like boils filled with blood that can (and have) shot across the room onto the wall when I pinch them. They are painful! My jeans, underwear etc. rub up against them...OUCH! And they last sometimes for months. I try to leave them alone as much as possible, but I am a pincher addict.

I am a clean person(I promise!!) I always wash very thoroughly.
I have tried Netrogena ance bars, Clearasil etc.

I now have scars that look like dime size gouges in my skin! Gross! The skin is actually gone!! Any ideas?

Gee what a... vivid...description ! Well, sorry, I haven't got any ideas, but I just wanted to say, I can totally relate :o
Just a couple of weeks ago, I got what can only be described as a boil 'down there' so MASSIVE that I actually thought it was some kind of hernia or something...LOL...until it pretty much exploded that is - ewwwh, I mean, talk about gross! And now I seem to have like a circle of skin 'missing' from there.
I just hope that was a one-off! I do get that kind of acne done there quite a bit (although they do seem more like cysts and have something to do with AF, like the ones I get on my face) but I've never had one quite that bad before!

Well if you do find anything that helps, be sure to let us know!!!

Good luck!

yep, i had those too, but i had just shaved and i think they were ingrown hairs. they looked and acted just like what you are describing, though. after i pop them enough to get most of the pus and blood out, it felt much better, but it took time for them to get to the 'popable' point.

i hope someone has an idea. i tried soaking in the tub, hot washclothes...

Are you insulin resistant? I thought this had more to do with being insulin resisitant than PCOS because I have had them and my husband (who carries all his weight in his belly which is a sign of IR) gets them also. I have noticed that I rarely get them anymore. In fact I can't remember the last time I actually had one... I think change in diet (I'm either lowcarbing or doing the IR diet pretty much always) and metformin has made the difference. I'm not sure if there is something the Dr. can give you for it but you might want to check it out. I wonder if anyone else has had that problem and gotten better with diet/metformin. Sally

I'm not sure if I'm IR or not. I have only had minimal testing done...3 hormone (normal) and thyroid (normal). How do they check for IR? I carry my weight ALL OVER!! lol

My GYN has seen my "condition" and says we'll talk about it. She's always in a hurry. Just to have her see it was soooo humiliating, I cried afterwards. And I'm not a cryer. I should be seeing her in July.

Sorry about the description if I grossed you gals out!

Hi, I am new here and you brought me out of lurkdome w/this post!! I am so glad that I finally found someone else that said they get them too!!! I so do! I thought something was really wrong w/me like some sort of std or something from my single days or something, but Dr's never know what they are! One Dr. did tell me that it was probably ingrown hairs, but I get them too often, and in too many different spots to be that! Noone else has ever known. One Dr wanted to cut one off and biopsy it, but I was young and that scared the crap out of me and I wouldn't let her. I am so glad to hear other's have this problem...not glad that you have it, but you know what I mean. I feel like I'm not alone...not deformed or having some funky disease! It is embarrassing, gross and ugly though! I don't let dh look down there because of it!

They are very painful and gross, white puss and blood comes out. And also they leave very dark brown scars I guess those will never go away, never be able to wear a bathing suit again! Even after I lose the weight probably Oh well...such is life I guess. Anyhow, I also get smaller one's on my stomach around my waistline...weird. They aren't exactly the same though....but kind of similar. Anyone get that?

Thank you for having the courage to post this...I feel so much better. I look forward to seeing if anyone has any suggestions. Maybe this is a sign of PCOS. Which I have not been officially diagnosed w/yet, but I do know I have it, just can't find a Dr. that knows anything or willing to do any kind of testing Ug.

Thanks for pulling me out of lurkerville...I guess I better find where I am supposed to introduce myself and do so huh? I am so glad a friend told me about this site, I have found it so helpful and I finally feel like all of these symptoms that I have aren't in my head and I'm not going crazy!! The dr's sure have been making me feel like I am for years!

As you can see by my name...I tend to ramble! Thanks for listening and thanks for posting this, it's good to know I'm not alone!

I think there is a name for this. I have read about it before. It has something to do with PCOS and IR. I wish I could find the name of it. When I was first diagnosed with insulin resistance my Endochrinologist asked me if I ever had nodules in my upper thighs and really large boils. I never have had what you are describing or what the Dr. was describing but I know this condition is related. If I remember the name I will post it.

Welcome Rose!! I wasn't going to mention this...but since you did (and thank-you!!)....My Dr. did test me for STD's b/c I have skin tags...ya' know....down there and because she wasn't sure what the acne was either. I guess that's why she said we'll talk about it...after my test results!!! Well, I don't have any STD's and I was very relieved. I was even ?ing DH before I got my test results back....all I can say is: murder, death, kill!!! lol j/k!

I also have very dark brown scars. I also get a "form" of them on my stomach and waistline. I figured it was from being overweight and sweating.

lol, Stephanie

LOL Stephanie! I wasn't questioning my dh, and I was tested for all the std's before I got married so I was actually going as far as thinking I had some funky std that noone knows about yet and didn't show up on tests! LOL But, I guess after 9 years dh would have gotten it by now if that were the case huh? I know what you mean though, dh would be soooo dead if I found out something like that too!

This is so interesting. I hope that someone does find out the name of it!

I also am looking into finding a good Dr. that knows about PCOS and the tests to give for it. I have almost all of the symptoms and can't even get Dr's to listen and take me seriously. I have been going through this since I was 15 and I had given up for a few years because it was just too depressing to deal with anymore. But I am back to looking...hopefully this time I can find a Doc that will actually figure things out. I want to have a baby and after 6 years I guess it's not going to happen w/out some help! Although, I do need to lose the weight first, I am VERY overweight but I want to get everything else under control as well.

Thanks for this post again! Glad to know you get the stomach thing too! I used to think it was from being overweight too, but noone else that I know who is overweight seems to have them...so I don't think that anymore.

Come to think of it I remember reading about something on here called Hidradenitis Suppurativa , I think. It's a condition which I *believe* is PCOS related and which causes boils on your body... but I haven't looked into it any further. You could probably run a search on the forums to see what it throws up. I can't remember much else about it (and I gotta run ).

I don't have this, but my hubby does, any ideas on what his problem is? I know he doesn't have PCOS.

I think this has more to do with insulin resistance. I know it's a common thing with people who have syndrome X which is a combination of disorders including insulin resistance or diabetes. Men can have it too.

I am so surprised that other women are suffering from the boils, I thought I was the only one! As a matter of fact, I was diagnosed thanks to the boils I had on my breasts. I do have some tips on handling these lovley things. Since I was getting them everywhere I found some ways to get rid of them...and I haven't had them since. I hope these help!!

- The boils are full of a staph infection and is very contagious . When you get one you get six. When you pop them or touch them wash your hands and the areas around it fully with anti bacterial soap.

- Wash your sheets, clothes, and anything that came in contact with the boil in as hot as water as the fabric can stand.

- Make sure your husband, kids, cat, plants or anything have clean hands because people can have the infection on them and not get boils.

- Try to use bar soap, not washcloths, sponges or puffs they are full of the bacteria that causes boils. If you need to use these items make sure you use a fresh one everytime and wash the ones that are used with hot water and bleach.

- Try to keep the areas where boils seem to arise clean and dry. Make sure the area around them circulates.

- When applying body lotion avoid these areas so they don't spread as you apply the lotion.

- This might be weird...but keep your fingers out of your nose. (hehe) The nose carries alot of the staph bacteria and I found fiddling with my nose ring was the cause of the boils. Again, wash the hands of veryone you know that sticks their fingers in their noses. heh.

Boils are fickle creatures, once you get one you get alot of them. Once you take some prevenitive measures they will stop spreading...I hope these tips work for you!!
