I just wanted to big up me and Lincolnshire Girl - we did the "Race for Life" in Boston this morning.
LG got round a bit quicker than me, but I did the 5km in about 56 minutes, and considering I was walking with the aid of a walking stick for my bad knee (skiing injury), I'm really chuffed.
LG has a photo of us about 5 minutes after I had finished, which she said she would post on the board as soon as she got the chance.
Extra cheers for LG as she managed to get herself almost £200 in sponsorship. I tried not to feel inferior for my promises of £75, but I'm just glad to have got round without too much trouble, just a little bit of muscle soreness.
And WELL DONE to any other ladies who've taken part in other Races for Life around the country. WE ROCK!!!!

That's a wonderful accomplishment! I am so proud of you two!
And you doing it with a bad knee, too. That's determination and dedication. I really admire you both. I can't wait to see the photo!
My 84 yr.old MIL (who is a breast cancer survivor) participated in this (walking, not running). I am so proud of her, too. She did very well and was so happy and proud to do it.
I hope to participate next year!
Kathryn

WOW - Huge Kudos to your MIL, tell her I passed on my congrats!
I walked in memory of my mum - she died in 1998, at the age of 45, 13 days after I got married. There were so many people walking/running in memory of friends and relatives, and it never fails to make me so sad. One lady (about 50 years old) walked in memory of her 32 year old daughter. I almost burst into tears right there and then.
I have had tremendously mixed feelings all day - glad to do this thing to help cancer research, but I want my mum back!!!!
Sorry, don't mean to depress everyone!!!

Congratulations to you both. I mean to do this every year and just never do. My niece ran in memory of my sister last year. Cancer is a disease that affects every one of us - either personally or in a friend or relative. Your contribution to this race has helped in the fight against that.

Thanks for your kind words Deeds. I was gonna do it last year but my IL's visited for FIL's birthday, so this year I was determined to do it and although I was hurting after about 3 1/2 kms, I made it and I'm happy.

Oh yeah, I still so *love* seeing pictures of myself!!!!
Oh, well, I can't really say I had fun doing it, but I am definitely glad that I did.
Ann - I didn't take my computer home last night, so couldn't log on and check out those pics, so this is the first time that I've seen them. That hat just SO adds to my great attractiveness, don't you think?!?!?! :o
Ah, beats getting sunstroke or heatstroke I guess!!!
I'm really glad we met up, and it was nice to also be able to put a name to the name I keep seeing in my inbox - Anthony Markillie!!!
