Default yasmin

I had been on Yasmin for about a year. I got off because our health insurance ended. I also wanted to see what would happen with my symptoms of PCOS if i got off the BCP. I was wondering if anyone else experienced a weight gain, more acne, and more facial hair? I have gained 10 lbs. in the last 3 months even though I have been running 25 miles a week. I have been training for a marathon in May. It is SOOOO discouraging!!

Is Yasmin known for weight gain? I'm currently on my 5th month of Diane, but have gained almost 10 kilos so wnat to get off it. Whilst I know that the pill isn't fully responsible for my weight gain, I'm sure it is partially responsible as I gained *so* quickly (within two months). I suspect Diane is too high for me in Eostrogen, as my breasts are incredibly painful. Yasmin is a little lower in Estrogen (3omcg as opposed to 35mcg in Diane) so I thought that might make it easier to lose weight.

Someone please tell me they've been able to lose weight on Yasmin! I realise that we're all different, I need to hear that it's at least possible.

I started Yasmin in March of last year and I've lost 8 lbs w/o diet and/ exercise. I haven't gained any weight, I don't have acne and my hair is minimal (I didn't have a whole lot to begin w/ but now it's even less). I just started working out and watching what I eat, so I'll let you know what happens.

Good Luck.

yasmin really did help me lose weight, with the acne, and regular cycles. I didn't realize how much it worked until I got off of it. I'm planning on going to my gyno next month for my annual exam and to get a new prescription for Yasmin.

Question Any one else have this problem?

I am about 1 1/2 wks into my first pack of Yasmin. I have taken other BCP's in the past w/o problems. Last night I started to have a little breakthrough and tenderness in my left side. Today the breakthrough has gotten much heavier, and the tenderness is continuing. I called the OB, but had to talk to the nurse and np, because Doc is off on Tues. I talked to the nurse and she (claimed) she talked to the np, I don't know if she talked to a different OB in the office. She said ibuprofen and a heat pad. I called back because it was getting heavier, and she asked if it had soaked through a pad. I don't know don't use 'em HATE 'em. So now I have to go to store find some of the really thin ones and be uncomfortable till the breakthrough stops. I'm going to call back tomorrow and try to talk to Dr. Shores.

Anyway, anyone else have this problem? Or similar problem. I've never had this problem w/ bcp's and have taken lots of them over the years.

Cherokee~ Did you take any of the pills late? I found that if I forgot to take it at night (that's when I normally do) by mid-day the next day, I'll have breakthrough bleeding. Other than that, I haven't had any problems.

HTH~

I had breakthrough bleeding a lot on Yasmin EXCEPT for the month I got pregnant. Since Yasmin contains a derivitive of Spiro and spiro can cause breakthrough bleeding, I am surprised more women don't compalin of this side effect. I kind of wonder if the fact that I had bleeding on the pill means it was less effective for me, but I asked a doctor about this once and she said no, bleeding does not indicate the pill isn't working as contraception. Well... I have my doubts.

Cheokefox, Yasmin seems to have a high failure rate among us cysters... I wonder if your tenderness could be ovulatiory pain?

Well, I though of the ovulation thing, cause that's kind of what it felt like. The best the NP could suggest is after my next period having another ultrasound done. I'm going to call back tomorrow and see if I can get some better (or at least different) answers.

I'm on my fifth month of Diane and still get break through bleeding 5 out of seven days. If I'm more than twelve hours late with taking my tablet, It will be even heavier. I think Dian is similar to Yasmin in that it's got cypretone, similiar to sprio, IIRC. But it's a lot lower dose than you get from taking sprinoaldactone (sp?).

Break thourgg bleeding in the first couple of months of a new pill is not uncommon, it takes about three cycles for your body to adjust to the new hormone levels.

I went on yasmin 5 months ago and i absolutely loved it. I lost 5 pounds the first month and within the first 2 weeks I noticed a change in the hair growth. I havent lost anymore weight but also havent gained. I skipped a month and regret it bad. The hair growth came back full force then some. It sucks to have that kind of hair on the face. But I have fait that someday they will come up with a permanent solution.

Yasmin...has helped me with other PCOS symptoms..slowing excess hair growth and acne...it hasn't really helped me lose weight...but it has stopped completely the 8lbs a month I was gaining before my period...I don't gain a pound anymore, still even continue to lose weight that week...I think the metformin has helped most in my weight loss, but the Yasmin has been great for almost all of my other PCOS symptoms

I spotted for the ENTIRE month after my first period when I started taking Yasmin. But this month is the third pack, and no spotting at all! I think I just needed some time to get used to it. The Dr even said that it sometimes take 2-3 months to get used to.
I have lost 9 lbs since starting Yasmin and Met together Nov 2004, but I have been trying to loose and dieting... I can't say that either one has more to do with it. I really don't know.

I had breakthroughs the entire 3 mos I took yasmin, and my hair growth increased and I was on such an emotional rollercoaster that I thought I was loosing it! I bawled at work, at home, at the grocery store when they didn't have the kind of chips my family liked......and THAT day, a couple of teenagers saw me bawling and started laughing....and the 'devil inccarnate' erupted from me and the crying stopped and I found myself screaming at them as I watched them RUN! I called the doc and told him I would not take yasmin anymore and he just tried to get me to take anti depressants with it and I refused. I am not going to take meds to cover up side affects that I don't normally have. I'm actually a very 'even tempered' person when I'm not on yasmin. I won't go down that road again.
