I was recently dx'd with pcos and my doctor assured me that an OC would be the best thing for my facial hair, the only problem is that I have heard from so many people that they don't work. Although I haven't heard of any specific names yet. Has anyone tried Yasmin? Another thing is I am trying to loose the weight. Last time I was on OC's I gained weight, does anyone know how I can get started? Any help is appreciated.

Yasmin is commonly prescribed to us cysters because it has a anti-androgen effect on us. In other words it tends to help with the adverse side effects of having too much testosterone in our systems. It is a good start, however there are other medications that can help as well. Metformin or Glucophage can help with weightloss because us cysters tend to be IR.

thanks for the info and for the welcome guys! but on another note, my endo said that i had a choice of yasmin or gloucophage but he also said that the gloucophage would make me, "highly fertile" and thats not the route that i want to go just yet. Are those my only two options? and while im at it i heard a low carb diet is best for IR is that true? and how can i get more info?
