Grrr... I finally find a pill that works for me (no break through bleeding, regular ovulation and AF, etc. etc.) but of course my insurance doesn't really cover the cost!! I just finished my trial packs and had to buy one, and it was over $40!!! That was just for 1 month!!! I might have to switch BCP AGAIN (hope I can find one that's just as good as Yasmin!) just because of the cost!
Any suggestions? Any other BCP like Yasmin (high estrogen, low androgen) out there that isn't so much $$$$?
yes, it sure does suck. $53.00 It's a shame that insurance companies won't pay for BCP's. My Gyn tried wrote them stating it was for med reasons but they declined. I try to get samples from my gyn when I can. I
ve only paid for it once. I'm thinking if I can't get samples anymore I will discontinue using it.

I'm sorry you're insurance didn't cover it, even with a letter from your doctor. I know that has always worked for me.
Also, I know I've seen commercials for some different drug companies for people with low income/no insurance to apply for some type of aide, from the drug company so that the people can get the meds they need. Especially if you're not using it primarily as a BCP but rather to treat PCOS, that would be more important, I'd think. But, again I can't be sure about you meeting either of those stipulations or whether yasmin's company has anything remotely similar to those of other companies. The company that makes yasmin is called Berlex and the website is www.berlex.com
Also, my cardiologist always gives me like three months sample, cuz one of my meds is about $50/month. The girls are really nice when I call or stop by to pick up more samples. They understand how expensive the meds are and know we're not rich. They have to give those free samples away, before they expire...why not to you?!?!
Hope I was of some help and good luck obtaining more yasmin.

Eve, I have this exact same problem and just posted a little while ago on it. I'm in the process of trying to get a letter sent to insurance stating it is a medical need for me. Does anyone know of any good articles that state this so I can send it along with the doc statement...my insurance declines so much that I'm worried they will on this also. I have tried other BCPs in past and one made me dizzy all the time. I really like Yasmin and would like to stick with it. Jean

Not sure if you have a planned parenthood by you, they usually are low cost or free depending on your income.

If your insurance allows you to purchase meds by mail (usually 3-month supplies) it is way cheaper as well. They actually usually encourage this, btw.
As far as articles to include, Kat and others have provided great ones on this site. Look at stickies at the top of fora, as well as the Research forum...
