I've noticed quite a few people on soulcysters (aw I love you guys already...) anyways who are taking yasmin for their symptoms. My physician recommended that I not take BCPs because I got some symptoms of depression (paranoya, disnterest in thing I normally love) when I was on Diane 35 last year so I was wondering is anyone who has an inclination to depression on this medication? Is it worth bringing it up?
I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences on Yasmin as well. I am almost two weeks into my pack. I have noticed a lot of differences in my emotions/moods recently..but then again, there is a lot going on in my life right now. I'm really trying to give this medication a shot for at least a few months, but it's hard to stick with something when it makes you feel crappy..but then again, you need to stick with it for at least a couple months (so I'm told) to see if you can get past that point and if it will really work and help.

I have been on Yasmine for about 1 year, and I have been extremely "teary" for a while. I never really put two-and-two together, but it definitely could be related to the Yasmine. I am just never sure that it is the pill or if this is just a "normal" reaction and normal sadness. But seriously, I can't even tell someone a story without getting teary...Who knows...
I find that when I get upset about somthing, it knocks me down for a few days, but then it gets better...
It has also gotten better in the past two weeks since I started going to the gym 3-4 times a week...

I'm on my 3rd Yasmin pack and I have been feeling very moody recently. I just thought my mood swings were part of the PCOS experience, but if it's just related to the Yasmin that would make me feel a little better about it. I've also been on Metformin for a little over a month. I was really hoping I would feel amazing by now, but I guess I'm just impatient.
*sigh*

I was put on Yasmin shortly after being diagnosed. I absolutely LOVED it. My symptoms went alway after a few months, its awesome for controlling hair growth, my moods were way more level. Its the best birthcontrol pill I was ever on, I tried a few.
I was on Yasmin for two months and what a horrible two months it was! My skin and periods were great, but my appetite increased (weight gain) and I was majorly depressed all the time (to the point of thinking about death constantly). BCPs have never been nice to me - and Yasmin was no exception. I've heard it works wonders for some - but not for mw.
I am so glad to hear you say that about the weight gain...I have been on several different BCP over the past 15 years and I have lost weight over the past two years, but since starting Jasmine, I am having a WAY more difficult time losing any weight.
I go to the gym, eat right, and try to do everything right. I have been seriously considering going off of the Jasmine to see if this gets the weight and emotions under control... I think it is worth a try...
Thank you again for all of the info and suggestions. It is so nice to know that I am not alone!!!

I've been on Yasmin since.. err.. May I think.. and I suffered terribly the first couple of months. I never associated it with the Yasmin and thought it was because "there was a lot going on in my life".. But the thing is there was a lot going on before the Yasmin, and there still is now, and I'm not spending half my waking hours crying.. I believe Yasmin caused the depression.. I'm still on the Yasmin (mostly because I hadn't really associated my problems with it until after I was over the worst of it..) and I'm still not really satisfied with it. While I was on Diane-35 I had perfect, regular periods, great skin and my hair problems were pretty much gone.. Other than a bit of nausea at the beginning I had no trouble with it. With Yasmin I've put on a bit of weight and am finding it very hard to shift, my periods are heavier and just well weird really - a day or two heavy, a day or two nothing and a day or two heavy again.. my excess hair is back and I get acne around my period. I also get moody/depressed at the beginning of each new pack. Personally I'd love to go back on Diane-35, but have been told that it is not really for long-term use (which I know is BS). I guess I should really find another doctor, who will hopefully realise that Yasmin isn't the right BCP for me.. Until then I'm still feeling better than I ever did without BCPs.. It's a case of better than nothing I guess.
