I have been on yasmin for two weeks. I have bipolar so I always struggle with depression but I am medicated and am generally stable. The last two weeks I have been getting increasingly more depressed. I am now at the point where I don't even feel like getting out of bed. I feel completely depressed and completely unable to function. My eyes are so tired, I have no energy and I keep getting headaches. I feel sluggish and horrible. I am also having a lot of pains in my ovary area. Is it the yasmin or am I just horribly depressed for some reason?

It could be that you are just horribly depressed for some reason, but I also experienced an increase in depression when I was on yasmin. I'm not bipolar but I've been diagnosed with depression and I've been on meds for many years. I told my gyno about the increase in depression and she took me off yasmin...and eventually I started to feel better. Maybe you should make a call to your doctor and ask what they think
Just wanted to let you know that I think it might just be the yasmin because I am normally a happy person, but when I started yasmin I became more and more depressed each day and like you I didn't even want to get out of bed because I was so dang exhausted throughout the whole day,(everyday while I was on it,and this was after a full 8 hours of sleep.) I also thought I might be depressed for some unknown reason until I did google researches on yasmin and found out that an enormous amount of women felt the same way while on it. I am so glad I found this out! If you click on http://www.createforum.com/yasminsid...asminsideeffec there is a message board about yasmin survivors. Also yasmin is on the www.worstpill.org list and check yasmin out on www.askapatient.com Good thing I was only on the yasmin for a little less than a month, but when I stopped taking it I was back to normal self again. Now I know yasmin works for some people, but for alot of women it does'nt unfortunately, Hope this helps!
yea, the first four months that I was on yaz I was very emotional, like crying for no reason in the middle of the day emotional. I love my job but every day i wanted to call off, I didn't want to go to work, every day I had to set myself up with something I HAD to do the next day to insure I wouldn't call in sick and even then it was still a big deal just to wake up. I told my endocrinologist about it and she said that it was me adjusting to being like a normal woman and that the testosterone makes people have more energy and now I don't have that higher level. So this is how I felt and I am feeling better as the months go on. So keep it up!
Im pretty positive that it's just the Yasmin. Ive only been taking it for 2 weeks and it got so bad that I couldnt stand it. I cry all the time, moody, depressed, not to mention that I was seriously considering that I was bi-polar until I figured out what was really happening. I made an emergency appt for today and got switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen.
You're describing me to a T on Yasmin. From what I've seen, it either has no side effects, or else it makes you extremely depressed. I have never been depressed, but Yasmin was so evil for me, and in the first month I was so bad I couldn't stand upright or stop crying. There was another one I switched to which was fine at first, but after many months on it I got depressed and filled with despair, although still never as bad as that one month on Yasmin. I'd get off it as soon as possible.

I used to be on ortho tri cyclen...i don't know if the high hormone levels are a problem for you, but they are for me. And with Ortho, my levels actually went up by one point. Then years later i've began the yasmin, and it's gone down significantly, to a normal level. My doc explained to me that many docs think that any birth control will work but that is actually not true, there are only specific kinds, and I don't know if yasmin is the only one but I do know that the ortho didn't work for me in that respect.
All BCP's affect people in different ways.I have been on Yasmin for almost 3 monthd and feel great. My moods are more stable,I am no longer bloated and my skin looks great,It has also reduced my shedding too.I think it all depends on your hormone levels pre pill.My Testosterone was real high and I think the Yasmin is lowering that so alot of the side effects I feel from that have subsided. It may have too much estrogen for you and maybe the Spiro isnt agreeing with you.Yaz has less estrogen and no spiro.maybe try that.Good luck.

I was going to post this almost exactly! "ALL BCP's affect people in different ways" I have read many forums and other online boards where it's pretty much one extreme or the other with yasmin. I was on kariva for 9 months last year/this past year and that was one that I absolutely HATED it - the way you describe how you feel on yasmin is pretty much how i felt on kariva. It wasn't AS extreme - but it was bad. I was tired alllll the time - sleeping / napping whenever I had a chance. I absolutely LOVE my job - yet there were days i just didn't want to go. I was VERY emotional and cried over small things. So I went to the doc and she switched me to yasmin. I'm on my fourth pack now and absolutely LOVE it! NO more fatigue - NO more emotional roller coaster - I've had NO side effects on yasmin. But again, that's just me - whereas on kariva I had horrible side effects.
If you feel like the yasmin IS the cause of all these issues then I'd go to the doc and have him/her change it ASAP. good luck!!!
it's great to hear other women having the same reaction to Yasmin. I never had a problem with the pill I had been on years ago, but Yasmin really got to me. I am going to miss the way it cleared my face up and it was amazing at controlling hair growth, but boy did it depress me!!!
