Question Yasmin and Anxiety?

I am about to begin treatment with Yasmin. I have only ever been on one other OC, and that was Estrostep, about four years ago. I became horribly moody and even more panicky and anxious than usual. That was the worst month of my life! I know that Estrostep is a highly androgenic pill, and definitely contributed to my PCOS becoming more seriously pronounced.

I am wondering if Yasmin will in fact soothe my anxiety or exacerbate it. Thanks for any comments about this.

I have been taking Yasmin since January and I haven't had any problems. I have had some bouts of depression, but I have so much other stuff going on in my life right now so I don't know if I can blame it on the Yasmin. You should also know that I take Paxil for anxiety. I have been taking it for about 5 years. I would talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are concerned. Webmd is also a good place to research new medications.

Good Luck!!!

I was taking Yasmin for almost 6 months, 3 years ago. It was probably the worst experience of my life. After the 2nd month taking it I became severely depressed for absolutely no reason and had horrible anxiety attacks. I would know that there was absolutely nothing wrong and would just start bawling- completely unaware of what triggered the breakdown. My Dr. took me off of it, and then had to put me on Zoloft for 3 months to repair the damage. Needless to say, it wasn't a pill that I would recommend to anyone. I'm now on Yaz, the lower dose Yasmin, and I hope it doesn't do to me what Yasmin did. :/

I am sorry to say, but I had a horrible yasmin expirence as well...the worst anxiety attacks with panic in my life....it sent me into major anxiety where even a walk out side or a trip to the store would bring them on...sometimes they would come on out of nowhere for no reason. i wound up in the er thinking i was going to die. it was terrible, i was on yasmin for 2 years before it hit me like that. i dont know why. maybe my body changed? but it was sooooo horrible. it did clear my acne completely, but i couldnt enjoy it after the panic attacks crippled me . i was put on paxil and it didnt help. i was on paxil for 1 year. then i read online about other people having panic attacks from yasmin!!! i couldnt belive my bcp could do that. so...I stopped the pill . within a month i was able to stop paxil and i can say all my problems and anxiety stopped and i am now a normal person again!!!! i have been off yasmin for 5 months and will never go on it again. in the meantime my cysts and bad skin are back, but i am going to get on an older pill, that doesnt do this. maybe it will work different for you though. you will just have to see how your body reacts. you wont know untill you try it. so good luck. P.s...I did have a good time on it for awhile and flawless skin
