Who out there is on Yasmin BCPs and has it helped your acne? I have a prescription for Yasmin, but wanted some feedback before I try it. Please let me know what results you've had with Yasmin and acne - better or worse. Thanks!
Mine got way worse when I started. Now it's a little bit better and my doctor thinks it's getting better but it's still bad. (I didn't have bad acne in the first place...) And he only sees me once every few months so his opinion means jack to me.
i am on yaz(a smaller does of estrogen version of yasmine) and my acne cleared right up...BUT...BUT...i am in my first month and just started getting a few zits during my inactive pills...wondering if i went off them completely if i would get overcome with acne =same as of worse than before? i only started having acne a few months before i started the pill- it was weird...

i am into my 2nd week of my 1st stip of yasmin and i do have a few sore spots on my neck that have been there for like a week when usually they wud only be angry sore for a day or two.
It def hasnt helped my acne but as i said its only my 2nd week on them. I have found however that i am feeling nauseous (cant spell)and i cant tolerate even small amounts of alcohol (up all night sick after a tiny amount of alcohol). Getting my liver functions tested this week.
However some of my friends are on it too and they find it fine, no problems ..so i guess everybody will react diff to them.

I was on yasmin for 3 years. My acne was controlled well... I didn't even know I had acne untill I went off yasmin. Now I am on yaz, but also spironolactone and my acne is better.

It takes at least three months to see results. The posters that say that their acne is getting worse is because all of the acne is coming out. The same thing happens with Accuatane and Retin-A. Trust me, Yasmin works...give it time.
I have just begun my 3rd month of Yasmin. In the 1st month I did see a change. To begin with it all comes out and then settles down, like some people have said. I also noticed a difference when I started a very low calorie diet (Cambridge Diet), which I'm not saying was great for my body, but because I was having to drink 3 or 4 litres of water a day and probably not consuming as much sugar or wheat (or other things that irritate my acne and weight). I only did it for a month because I got tonsillitis and decided that in order to get better i would have to eat fresh and healthy stuff.
I think dietary changes can help acne, but i know it doesn't always, as i can eat the healthiest stuff and still have a flare up of painful spots...
Yasmin is not high in androgenic hormones so it should in theory help acne, but our bodies respond differently to medication...
I feel really self conscious of my skin as it is visibly sore and inflamed even when i wear make up, and i worry that people think i am unclean or just scoff my face with burgers and chocolate, which i don't. I seem to have 2 or 3 spots which are like cysts (i was diagnosed with cystic acne before pcos) and the just keep on coming back and are soooooooo sore!! I don't know if they are hair follicles or what. But they take forever to heal. I used to have great skin that would heal quickly but since the age of 12 it has gone downhill. Ahh well. I'm going to try bi-cycling my pill these next 2 months to see if that will help with everything.
I have been uising Yasmin for 6 months and I still have acne. BUT I still like yasmin. It is the only bc that I know of that has anti-antorgen properties. I'm not sure what my skin would look like w/out yasmin, but my acne is less severe than when i was anti-biotics. I am trying retin-a as well and am not looking forward to that.
Hi, I got this update, and I actually posted on this thread about 2 years ago saying Yasmin wasn't helping my skin. And I stayed on it for 6 months and not only did my acne get worse and wprse, I was experiencing depression and very bad pelvic pain. Went back on Marvelon (Desogen) and that helped tremendously. A year after, I was getting severe migraines and now cannot take combined pills, so I'm on Cerazette, which so far seems ok.
A doctor I saw told me that he no longer prescribes Yasmin due to the awful side effects that all his patients (including his wife!) have experienced. He said the drug companies push docotrs into prescribing them but actually it may not be the best thing for us. My gynae prescribed me Cerazette and I also have an IUD (long story..), I'm on my 2nd month of Cerazette. It has been a bumpy ride but I am feeling better with it, so I will give it a fair chance.
So, after my 6 months on Yasmin, I found it did NOTHING it was supposed to. I had terrible, painful acne and sores, headaches, weight gain, depression, and general malaise. So even if I could try it again, I never would. I was looking at Mercilon next after Marvelon, but my migrianes put a stop to that.
